General overview
Beautiful quaint farmhouse in picturesque Ile d’Orleans. This is an authentic 200 years old Canadian house set in extensive grounds with a small lake (water quality not suitable for swimming), a brook, a beautiful garden and plenty of wildlife. Wonderful for families: there is a big treehouse, sand pit, trampoline, swings and a fenced area for dogs or small children to play safely.
The house itself is very comfortable but expect some quirks from being an old house (eg. creaking floors, some windows won’t open, etc.). Stay warm and cosy in winter with a very efficient wood burner in addition to electric central heating.
There is no AC but the house does not get very hot in summer thanks to the huge maple trees shading it. In winter you are welcome to use our snow shoes for long walks in the countryside and various sliding equipment for the kids. Plenty of indoors and outdoors toys for kids aged 5-10.
The space
space:
Ground floor features an open plan large kitchen very well equipped (with an oven, full cooktop, coffee maker, instant pot and more) and dining room. A separate lounge with a flat screen TV (no channel subscription), many board games and single couch that may be used for an extra guest if they don’t mind a firm bed. A separate toilet. One storage room that will be locked for our personal belongings.
Upstairs is a huge main bedroom with a queen bed plus a dedicated workspace with large desk and 2 additional monitors for remote workers. A large children’s room with a bunk bed plus a single futon available for an extra child and plenty of toys. The third bedroom is a small cosy room with a double bed and low slanted ceilings that may not suit very tall people.
Guest access
2 floors and the main entrance is reached via a few steps.
Notes
There will be no animals on site during the exchange (except for lots of wildlife).

In summer, kayak on the St-Laurence river and enjoy the island many touristic activities, famous for its agrotourism (strawberry picking, cheese making, wineries, apple orchards and more).
In winter, enjoy snowshoeing in the fields, country skiing or sleighing in the village park with the kids. There are also 3 mountain skiing resorts less than 30min away.

You will need a car to explore the nearby attractions as there is no public transportation. In winter, access to the house may be challenging, a 4x4 or excellent winter tires are required.
