A unique 2 bedroom cedar house designed in a mid-century style, located steps away from one of Hornby Island's most popular beaches famous for it's fabulous sunsets and spectacular vistas.
The space
The house is open in the middle with the bedrooms and bathroom radiating from the middle. The house has a lovely deck, good for al fresco dining or for enjoying happy hour. There are double sliding glass doors that we typically use for our main entry and exit.
There is an additional space; a converted garage with a nice private sleeping space for 2.
Guest access
The house has a small number of steps to enter but it also boasts a ramp that can be used for entering through the main (front) door.
Notes
Hornby Island is a water wise island and, as such, all residents and visitors are asked to be particularly careful and sparing with their water usage. We have water cisterns for bathing but at this point, we filter our drinking water and often purchase our additional supply through the local Coop ($4 for 18 litres). We have spare bottles and we rotate them for easy use.

Neighbourhood
Hornby is a mecca for artists and we have several who reside in our neighbourhood. There are always friendly people walking to and from the beach and the farmer's market (on Wednesday and Saturday) are within easy walking distance.
Getting to my home
Hornby Island requires some planning and organisation to reach. There are float planes from Vancouver but that limits the amount of luggage you can bring. The most interesting way to reach Hornby is via ferry through BC Ferries. It's located on the inside passage of Vancouver Island about a one hour drive from Nanaimo and then 2 small ferries to reach Hornby.
Nearest airport
Seaplanes arrive and depart Shingle Spit on Hornby Island several times weekly.
Getting around
You will need a car or a bike to get around Hornby Island. Having a car is very easy and there are parts of the island that are very hilly.
