General overview
We live just outside the center of Bruges, in a beautiful green neighborhood. You can take lovely walks there and yet you are super close to everything. The house itself has 4 rooms but we keep one closed because it's my workspace for the webshop. So, there are 3 bedrooms with a double bed available, 2 bathrooms (one with a shower, sink, and toilet, and one with a bathtub and sink). Furthermore, on the ground floor, there is a dining room, a sitting room, kitchen, toilet, and storage room. The garden is not finished but still a very nice place to be! There are lots of windows and lots of greenery, which gives the house a very open feeling.
In about 10 minutes, you'll reach the center of Bruges, where you can immerse yourself in its picturesque charm. Bruges is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, winding canals, and cobbled streets that transport visitors back in time. Here, you'll discover iconic landmarks such as the Belfry of Bruges, the medieval Burg Square, and the serene Minnewater Lake.
Visitors flock to Bruges to indulge in its rich history, explore its museums, and savor its culinary delights, including Belgian chocolates and waffles. The city's enchanting atmosphere and romantic ambiance make it an ideal destination for couples seeking a memorable getaway. Additionally, Bruges hosts vibrant cultural events throughout the year, from music festivals to art exhibitions, ensuring there's always something captivating to experience.
The space
Our house is a true home. Upon entering, you step into the hallway with space for coats and shoes. If you go to the right, you'll find the TV room with a spacious corner sofa, TV, and piano. Going to the left leads you to the dining room with a large dining table (crafted by my dad :)), next to which is a small but convenient kitchen. Beyond that, there's a toilet, bathroom with sink and bath, and a storage room equipped with a washing machine, dryer, freezer, and a large fridge for drinks.
Heading upstairs, you'll find a small bathroom with a shower and sink, the master bedroom with a large double bed, a room with a double bed, and another small room that we keep closed as it serves as my workshop for the webshop. There's an additional bedroom with a double bed on the attic floor.
The garden isn't fully landscaped but is nonetheless very cozy amidst greenery. You can enjoy the green surroundings and the chirping of birds. It's a wonderful place to come home to. We can provide bicycles if desired.
Notes
Currently, there's also a caravan in the garden where my niece (18 years old) is temporarily staying. However, if we arrange a home exchange, she will stay elsewhere during that time, and the caravan will be closed.

Neighbourhood
We live in a lovely and save neighborhood, a 10-minute bike ride from the city center. It's very close to everything yet surrounded by greenery. In our street, there's a large castle with a paid flower-picking garden. At the end of the street, you have fields.
Getting to my home
Our house is easily accessible by bike, and we can provide 4 bikes if desired (including 2 electric bikes). There's a bus stop just 50 meters from our door. The train station is a 10-15 minute bus ride or a 15-minute bike ride away. Bakeries, butchers, supermarkets, and other amenities are all within easy walking distance.
Car exchange can also be discussed if desired.

Getting around

Bruges city center is best reached by bike or bus. It takes about 10 minutes by bike. The bus duration depends on the line you take. You can also drive there, but you'll have to pay for parking, and it's not very far. Damme is right next to Sint-Kruis, where we live, and you can reach it in about fifteen minutes by bike or enjoy a lovely walk there. Ghent is 40 minutes away, Antwerp and Brussels are about an hour. The coast is not far either. My personal favorite is Zeebrugge (15-20 minutes). There isn't much to do there, but that also means fewer crowds. Alternatively, there's Oostende, about a 30-minute drive away, where you can shop, walk along the beach, and more.
Charlotte's home is perfect, cosy and comfortable. We found everything we needed and more. The garden is a lovely option to sit and enjoy the sunshine. A short bike ride from the centre of Bruges.
Charlotte and her family were the perfect guests, they left everything tidy and clean. We couldn't have hoped for better guests and would welcome them back anytime.
We loved Nuria's colourfull home! It made us feel at home right away :)! The appartement is perfectly located to go and visit London since its close to the tube.
Nuria was the perfect host. She is very friendly and answered all of our questions quicly! We would love to go back there

Charlotte
We live with our 2 daughters in our beautiful semi-detached house just outside the center of Bruges. I am 40 years old and work in a cultural youth center, and I also run a webshop with the most beautiful comforting gifts. My partner is 41 years old and works in a social enterprise while also being a carpenter. Our daughters are 15 and 10 years old. We have a dog but when we travel, she stays with Family. Due to circumstances, we haven't been able to travel for a few years, and last year I decided that I really want to show our children more of the world. Last year, we did our first home exchange, and this year we are looking for an exchange around 04/08/24-12/08/24. We would be open for an simutlaneous exchange or to receive a globe for that date. Feel free to make us a proposal :).
