General Overview
We live in a great location in central Hove, 5 mins' walk to lovely shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. Large supermarket within 10 min walk. 7 min stroll from the beach. 30 min walk into Brighton city centre. Despite the central location, being on the 7th (top) floor it's wonderfully quiet (except occasionally when there's a big cricket match on - in which case you'll have an amazing view).
The Space
Four bedroom/three bathroom apartment on the top floor of a 1970s building overlooking Sussex Country Cricket Ground. We have one dedicated guest bedroom with kingsize bed. We use two rooms as our offices. One office has a comfortable sofa bed (small double, suitable for one adult). The other office has a small sofa bed, suitable for a child. We have a large south facing balcony with rooftop and distant sea views.
The apartment is over 1 floor, with lift to the 7th floor. There are several steps to get into the building.
Guest Access
Guests enjoy full use of:
- Living room with spectacular views over Hove County Cricket Ground, 65 inch TV, comfortable seating and a dining table overlooking the view
- Well equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven, induction hob and dishwasher
- Dedicated guest bedroom with king-size bed and plenty of clothes storage space
- Additional room 1 with small double sofa bed (suitable for one adult)
- Additional room 2 with small sofa bed (suitable for a child)
- Two bathrooms (one with large shower, one with bath)
- Washer/dryer and space to hang clothes for drying
- South-facing balcony with outdoor seating
- Bed linen, towels and a couple of beach towels provided
We occasionally make the master bedroom and its en-suite shower room available to guests, in addition to the above.
Notes
Depending on the exchange dates and details, we may ask guests to cover our cleaning and linen costs. For example, if guests stay while we are away travelling, or if there are guests using several beds, we would have to pay for cleaning to accommodate the exchange. This would always be discussed and agreed in advance.
When we are at home, our cleaner visits weekly. For longer term guests, we can arrange for our cleaner to attend weekly if desired at very reasonable cost.

Neighbourhood
Plenty of lovely cafes and restaurants within a short stroll. Brighton is vegan heaven (we'll be happy to share our favourite places to eat) but has something for everyone including, as you'd expect, great seafood...
Loads of gorgeous pubs, nightlife of all kinds, theatre, live music...
The beach - NB it's pebbles not sand! And miles of seafront to walk and cycle...
South Downs National Park - surrounds the city. Worth exploring for countryside walks...
For day trips to the capital, London is c. 1 hour on the train with routes from both Brighton and Hove rail stations.
Brighton and Hove is a unique city: cosmopolitan but alternative-friendly, liberal, quirky and colourful, full of character and never boring!
Getting to my home
Both Brighton and Hove train stations are a short taxi ride away (Hove railway station is only 10-15 min walk away).
Nearest airport
London Gatwick is 35 min drive away and there are trains to both Brighton and Hove rail stations from Gatwick Airport.
Getting Around
The flat is centrally located within Hove so a car is not necessary. We do have a parking space, and if we are away in our car this can be loaned to guests by prior arrangement.
Train and bus routes give easy access to London and other places to visit along the coast and surrounding countryside. The South Downs National Park surrounds Brighton & Hove so escaping the city for beautiful country walks is very achievable without a car.
We'll be happy to give further guidance and recommendations specific to your trip.

We absolutely loved our stay at Rosie & Luke’s apartment in Hove. Stepping inside feels like stepping back in time—in the best possible way. The apartment is beautifully styled with a mid-century modern aesthetic, full of character and charm, while also being impeccably clean and well maintained.
The real highlight, however, is the incredible view. From one side of the apartment, you can overlook the cricket ground, and from the other, enjoy views of the sea—a truly special combination.
The location is perfect: just a short walk from the train station and close to Church Road, where you'll find an excellent selection of restaurants and cafés. We particularly enjoyed Fatto a Mano for its delicious pizza and pasta, and Archipelagos for wonderful Greek cuisine.
Brighton is easily accessible on foot, offering great shopping, restaurants, pubs, comedy venues, and plenty more to explore. If you prefer not to walk, there are also frequent buses nearby.
This was a fantastic exchange experience, and we would be delighted to repeat it in the future.
This was our second exchange with Rosie & Luke (which I think tells you a lot about someone's home!)
As previously, their flat was super clean and comfortable with everything you need in a home. We love the location being just a short stroll from shops and restaurants and two blocks from the sea. I enjoyed a run along the seafront a few times during our stay.
This time we took a trip into central London. The train takes just over an hour from Hove station to Victoria which gave us lots of time to explore before going to the theatre.
Rosie & Luke’s apartment is absolutely beautiful and much bigger than we were expecting. It is dual aspect with views over the cricket pitch at the rear and beautiful sea views on the terrace at the front.
The apartment was super clean and they even set up an extra bed for my daughter so that my mother in law could also join us.
We had a lovely time in Hove and Brighton spending time on the pebble beach, visiting the aquarium and shopping. We also had an amazing Sunday lunch at one of the pubs Rosie & Luke recommended.
I’ve already told Rosie that we need to arrange another swap as I wouldn’t hesitate to go back!
We absolutely loved Rosie and Luke’s home. A lovely, comfortable, spacious yet quiet apartment with so much light and optimism. The location was perfect for us. Close to cafes and restaurants, grocery options, a stroll to beautiful parks and the beach, with plenty of transport options nearby as well. Hove was also a delightful surprise. A really charming neighbourhood.
Rosie and Luke have been perfect hosts; great communication; and everything perfectly presented for our arrival. Thank you so much Rosie and Luke. You’re always welcome at our home in Portugal.
We absolutely LOVED staying at Rosie & Luke’s. Beautiful apartment with the most stunning views of the cricket grounds and the ocean. Wonderful hosts and can’t wait to return ☺️
Rosie and Luke are the perfect guests! Again this is our second exchange with them (which says a lot about their character as exchange partners).
Our home was left spotless on our return and as Rosie and Luke had come in on the back of another exchange, Rosie even washed and dried some sheets from the previous exchange so we had clean bedding to return home to!
I'm sure we will exchange with Rosie and Luke again as they are the perfect guests!
Rosie and Luke were perfect guests. Their travel itinerary allowed them to visit the day before to get a briefing, pick up keys, etc.. communication throughout was easy and relaxed and the apartment was beautifully maintained. We woild welcome them back at any time.
Best wishes to them both
Chris and Barbara.
Rosie and Luke were the perfect guests to our home. They were respectful and left the house cleaner than we left it for them!
They looked after our kitty and Rosie even sent me a photo when she managed to get some lap cuddles!
They put the bin out for us when requested and washed and changed the sheets before they left even though I said they didn’t need to.
I wouldn’t hesitate to host them again!
Feedback for Shannon·Non-Reciprocal exchange·6 nights
Shannon was the perfect guest and we were very happy to host her in Hove. We had excellent communication in advance of and during the visit and everything was left clean and tidy for our return. We would welcome Shannon back and hope to be able to visit her Costa Rica home in future.
Another lovely stay at Jane's lovely, comfortable, well equipped home in a nice part of Sheffield. As before everything was perfect, thank you Jane and family for your hospitality.
We had a wonderful stay in Chris and Barbara's beautiful and colourful apartment right in the middle of the action in Pyrmont. The apartment is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Barbara the day before we arrived for our stay, they were incredibly welcoming and it was a joy to meet them.
Feedback for Jane·Non-Reciprocal exchange·4 nights
It was an absolute pleasure to host Jane, her mother in law and daughter at our place in return for our earlier exchange. They left the apartment immaculate and communication prior to and throughout the stay was great. We look forward to exchanging again in future!

What an absolute pleasure to exchange with Liza and Brian. They looked after our home impeccably and we had great communication throughout the process. We recommend them without hesitation and hope we have the pleasure of meeting in person next time they are in the UK or if we visit Portugal. Thanks Liza and Brian x

We loved our stay in Sheffield. Jane's home is gorgeous, warm and cosy, tidy but comfortable. We were made to feel super welcome, provided with an excellent home guide and plenty of space for our things. Jane was on hand throughout to answer any questions. A lovely PLU experience all round :)
