General overview
A large family home in a quiet but friendly residential street in Christchurch (Dorset), UK. We are sandwiched between the beautiful New Forest National Park, quintessential Dorset countryside, and the incredible Jurassic Coast. So much to see and do locally, to suit all tastes and budgets.
We are 10mins from the beach - and still less than 2 hours by train to central London. You can easily day trip to cities such as Winchester and Salisbury, with Bath and Oxford a bit further afield.
The space
We have spent the past few years completely renovating our home - and will be finished by summer 2024 and ready to exchange! We will upload more photos as we get finished.
We have a large open plan living space with bifolds onto a deck and secluded sunny garden - ideal for summer entertaining.
We love to cook, so the kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, including a large range oven. If you’re here in summer, you’ll be able to pick veggies from the garden.
There is a separate office space, TV snug, laundry room and downstairs toilet. We have super fast broadband.
We have four double bedrooms - 1 is downstairs, and 3 are upstairs. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, with roll top baths and separate showers. The other two bedrooms share a shower room.
It’s a cozy and laid back family home, with plenty of books, toys and games that you are welcome to use.

Neighbourhood
A quiet residential neighbourhood in West Christchurch. There are some small shops within 5 minutes walk, where you can pick up basics. There are larger supermarkets within a 5 minute drive (or slightly longer walk!)
You can walk from our house to a small play park, and stroll along the river or up to St Catherine’s Hill.
Christchurch is a market town - there are good places to eat on the high street, as well as historic sights (castle ruins, Priory) and riverside walks. The town has a pretty quay - if you are keen to get on the water, you can hire a boat, SUP or kayak. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy a coffee or cocktail whilst watching the world go by. It takes about 30 minutes flat walk into the high street, or you can drive or catch the bus and do it in lass than 10.
We are also within 10-15mins of lovely sandy beaches - Mudeford and Southbourne are our favourites. Hengistbury Head sand spit is also well worth a visit.
Dorset boasts beautiful coast and countryside, with historic towns and sights waiting to be explored. Plenty for relaxed sightseeing or more adventurous activities. Just a few things that are easy day trips for our home:
Visit the incredible Jurassic Coast and walk part of the coastal path, including Durdle Door and seaside towns such as Lyme Regis (which featured in the Wonka film!).
Explore Corfe Castle and take a ride on the Swanage Railway steam train.
Head to Stourhead House with it’s beautiful gardens and pop to the cafe for a cream tea.
Hop on a boat to Brownsea Island, to see rare red squirrels.
Take a boat tour tour in Poole Harbour and have a nosey at the millionaire houses of Sandbanks.
Take a day trip to iconic Stonehenge.
Hop on a ferry to the Isle of Wight and enjoy traditional fish and chips by the sea.
Visit the pretty independent shops of Shaftesbury and have lunch overlooking Dorsets best hill…. Gold Hill.
Head to family attractions such as Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Monkey World, the Tank Museum, Longleat or Paultons Park.
Visit any of many quintessential villages and find a traditional pub for lunch.
The options are endless.
Getting to my home
Driving is easiest, and you’d ideally want a car to explore Dorset whilst you are here. We have off street parking for multiple cars.
Christchurch train station is 1.2miles away, and includes a direct line to London.
Bournemouth International Airport is 2.2 miles from our home. You can fly cheaply within the UK and Europe - it’s entirely possible to do a weekend in Edinburgh from our home. Or you can link up with other European cities.
Southampton Airport is 24 miles away and can easily be accessed by train.
London Heathrow is about 1.5 hours by car, and London Gatwick is about 2 hours by car.
Nearest airport
Bournemouth International - 2.2 miles; short taxi ride (approx £15 GBP)
Getting around
Ideally, you’d have a car - as visiting some of the countryside and coastal parts of Dorset isn’t easy on public transport.
If you don’t have car, there is still a lot you can see and do by train and bus. We’d be happy to advise.

Louise
We are a family of four - who love to explore new places, whether it be a city break or a countryside retreat. We have travelled to many parts of the World as a couple, which all started with a “round the world” gap year when we were 18. We are now enjoying seeing the World with our kids, aged 14 and 10.
Louise is a clinical academic physiotherapist, working in the NHS. She gets to travel a bit with her job, and has worked for more than 10 years supporting healthcare projects in West Africa.
Alex teaches young adults in a football academy, supporting them to gain qualifications alongside their football skills.
We have spent several years renovating our home on the beautiful south coast of England, and would love to share it with you.
