General overview

Our house is a great family home. We have three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Built in 1995, we recently updated the large kitchen and master bathroom. The spacious master bedroom has corner windows with a view of the Petaluma hills. Its adjoining bathroom has double sinks with stone counters, bathtub and shower surrounds. The toilet area has a door for privacy. There are two more bedrooms upstairs, each with a separate vanity area and a “Jack and Jill” bathroom between. Downstairs, the large open kitchen has granite counters, stainless steel double oven (convection and microwave), double door refrig and dishwasher. A central island has the cooktop. An adjacent eating area includes a table that can seat six. Both areas overlook our family room with a large TV. There is also a living room, dining room with a table that seats six and a full bathroom. We have a large fenced backyard with a spacious deck with an outdoor table that can fit 6 to 8 people, charcoal B-B-Q and hot tub.

The space

We have three bedrooms, 3 bathrooms plus an additional room with an office and couch (on the main level).

Guest access

Our house is a split level with an open floor plan. The kitchen, breakfast area and family room are open to each other. We have a separate dining area and living room. This level of our house has two steps between some of the rooms. Also no the main level is a large room we use as an office/playroom. There is a flight of stairs that take you to our master bed room with on suite bath room. Our guest room and another office/bedroom (queen futon) have their own vanity and sink, and share a “Jack and Jill” bath room.

Notes

Within easy traveling distance is San Francisco (45 mins) , Sonoma and Napa Wine Country (20 to 60 minutes) , Carmel and Monterey (about 3 hours) or longer trips to Lake Tahoe or Yosemite National Park (both about 3. 5 hours).

Neighbourhood

We are in a quiet and safe residential neighborhood about ½ mile from the historic downtown area of Petaluma. Our town offers good restaurants, a number of craft beer and wine tasting options, antiquing opportunities and so mush more.

Getting around

As we offer our car as part of the exchange you will have no problem getting around. Fairly new is the “Smart Train” which travels to other nearby communities as well.

I am a retired early childhood educator. I ran my own business for more than 30 years. I am a photographer, diver, wind surfer and play volleyball regularly. My wife is a clinical laboratory scientist working in a hospital lab. She too is looking towards retiring, She loves to read, enjoys cooking shows and exploring new recipes, as well diving. We share a love of travel! We have loved traveling to many of the European countries. We are scuba divers so traveling to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand and Australia have highlighted some of our trips.
