Stormy seas at Ansteys cove in winter. In summer this is a great spot to hire a paddle-board, grab a drink at the cafe and take in the view.
Fairy Cove. A small, quiet beach next to Paignton Harbour. From the harbour you can catch the ferry across the bay to Torquay.

Our closet beach, Preston Sands. Great for winter walks and summer swims! 5 minutes by car.
Goodrington Sands. Long sandy beach, great for swimming, rock-pooling, paddle-boarding or kayaking. Play-park, boating lake and a choice of pub or cafe for a lunch or a drink.
The local skate park in Victoria park. There is also an enclosed children's play park. Just a short walk to Paignton seafront where there is the larger Geo play park / toddler park plus sand and water play area. There is also a concrete bowl style skate park, just back from Preston seafront.
Pennywell Farm is a great day out for the family. Get up close to the animals, play in the parks and watch the mini pig racing!
About a 1 hour drive from the house is the stunning harbour of Salcombe. From here you can walk the coastal path towards Gara Rock.
Gorgeous views across the millpond from the waterside cafe at Stoke Gabriel village. This inlet on the River Dart is the perfect place to bring the kids crabbing and grab an ice cream!
A day out with Thomas! An annual event which takes place on the Buckfastleigh - Totnes steam railway. Great fun for the family and a trip on Thomas the tank engine. Any other time of year you can visit the otter sanctuary and the rare breeds farm, taking a ride on the steam trains.

Paignton Zoo is a wonderful day out, and only 5 minutes drive!

New playpark at Decoy Country Park. 10 minutes by car. Enjoy a walk through the woods, around the lake, rent a kayak, or feed the ducks!
Catch the Steam Train from Paignton to Kingswear and watch the stunning scenery. You can also book a 'Round Robin' ticket and cruise back along the River Dart for your return journey, passing by Agatha Christie's house. (Highly recommended!)
