General overview
My home has lots of light even in winter and is located in a fantastic neighbourhood in Vancouver.
My house is called a 'Strathcona Special'. It was designed by the architect Joe Wai who also designed the Chinese gardens in Vancouver. It is a simple but very functional and pleasant space. We renovated most of the interior of the house about 12 years ago.
The space
The main floor is an open-plan living, dining and kitchen with glass doors to the back deck.
The top floor has two bedrooms, an office and a bathroom.
The basement has a family room, laundry room and second bathroom.
Guest access
The house is on three levels with stairs connecting the floors. There are stairs to the front door and from the deck to the back garden.

Neighbourhood
Strathcona is Vancouver's oldest residential neighbourhood and is located adjacent to Chinatown and about 20 minutes walk to downtown. It is home to many historic houses. Strathcona is a very tight-knit community where we know most our neighbours. It is a very walkable area and also well-served by transit. There are small stores nearby for groceries and baked goods. There are many breweries nearby as well. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Commericial Drive neighbourhood where there are many shops.
Getting to my home
The bike route is one block away, and bus routes are 1 - 2 blocks away. It is a very walkable neighbourhood too.
