General overview
The property is conveniently located 25 minutes from Playa del Carmen (PDC) or 15 minutes to Tulum, this location provides you with the best of both worlds. PDC has become a thriving tourist destination over the past few years and offers visitors high-end shopping and dining as well as nightlife and music. While Tulum has a more low-key vibe, but do not let this fool you. Tulum attracts high end tourists who want to dine at highly rated restaurants, enjoy the isolated beaches that are rated tops in the world, but still blend nicely into the local scene.
The space
Located within the newly branded Tulum Country Club (TCC) - (a Bahia Principe resort property), this 2-bedroom & 2-bathroom condo is just minutes from Akumal, Mexico. Cool tropical breezes combined with first class amenities welcomes you to an exotic world. And this beautiful condo doesn’t disappoint with its pool & lush jungle views plus an elegant design. You will be just a few steps from the community infinity pool and 4th fairway of an award-winning golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II. So, if you enjoy a nice round of golf, please take advantage of the discounted green fees. There are 27 holes spread out over two courses, a par-72, 18-hole professional course and a par-3, 9-hole executive course. Both coursers are breathtakingly beautiful and offer players an incomparable challenge and experience.
Guest access
The available amenities are many here – first, the Tao Wellness Center (TWC) is only a five-minute walk from the condo. Here, you will find two saltwater lap pools, a gym, featuring a combination of machines and free weights. The TWC also offers various lifestyle classes (e.g. yoga & meditation). Plus, if you really want to pamper yourself, the TWC offers messages and temazcal (Mayan sweat lodge) style spa services for a reasonable price.
Second, in addition to staying within the grounds of the TCC resort - you have an option available of purchasing a day pass to enjoy accessing the amenities found at the Akumal & Tulum hotels. The TCC resort is all-inclusive so if you would like to enjoy food and drinks while onsite at either of these two hotels – the day pass includes buffet & snack bar offerings

Neighbourhood
Tao is a private gated community located within the Tulum Country Club (TCC) resort grounds. This resort encompasses over 700 acres and contains four hotels – Sian Ka’an, Tulum, Coba & Akumal. There is a free shuttle service available that will transport you throughout the resort complex including the newly opened Kay Beach Club. This beach club is open to the public and a great spot to sit and enjoy time at the beach. You can catch the shuttle when it stops at the Tao Wellness Center (TWC) throughout the day during operating hours.
Getting to my home
From the Cancun International Airport (CUN) it is a direct and easy route to navigate to the resort. You will be on one highway (Carretera Federal 307) for the majority of your travel time. Once you reach the small pueblo of Akumal, the first entrance to the resort is just two km further. You will need to pass through two security checkpoints in order to reach my condo building. First one, is directly coming off Highway 307 and entrance onto TCC grounds. The second is just a few minutes further and is Tao’s separate security entrance.

Nearest airport
The Cancun International Airport (CUN) is approximately 95 km north of the TCC resort. If driving, it will take approximately 75 minutes to cover this distance.

Or if you prefer to relax and have someone else do the driving from the airport to the resort. I highly recommend Canada Transfers as a safe & reliable transportation service that I personally use - https://www.canadatransfers.com
Getting around
To take full advantage of seeing the many local area attractions & exploring the nearby towns - I strongly recommend renting a car (either upon arrival or later from a car rental agency located in Tulum). Or you can catch a taxi that are readily available within the local area. A final option, is to try out the local public transportation (collectiveo) that runs on the main highway (Carretera Federal 307) between PDC and Tulum. You would just need to walk over to the highway from the condo (a 12-minute walk) and hail a van down.

A former corporate CPA happily retired since 2012. I previously lived in Chicago for 20+ years and then relocated to West Palm Beach just a few years before I officially retired. I now spend my time throughout the year going back and forth between Florida and Mexico.
When I was looking at retirement spots - Mexico was not even on the radar screen. By chance, I was attending a conference in Cancun and was offered an opportunity to extend my stay and check-out this new gated community being built called Tao. Since then, I have never looked back. There is something truly special about this area! It offers a sense of serenity & tranquility not commonly found in most places. And while I am not exactly a New Age disciple, I do strongly believe in "positive energy" and this place has it in droves!!
