General overview

This recently updated apartment offers bright, open spaces with high ceilings and is on the top level of a historic 1900s building. Its location—a short walk from Vienna's lively city center, yet in a calm neighbourhood near Stadtpark and Prater—creates an ideal balance for both relaxation and city exploration.

The space

This apartment sits in a peaceful area with very friendly and respectful neighbours. It is on the uppermost regular floor just below the attic level and comes with 2 big rooms: one is a bedroom with a king-sized bed and the other is the living room with a piano. There's also a large kitchen-dining room that was put in 2023. The bathroom, updated in 2023 as well, has a modern shower, a bathtub, and a toilet, plus there's an extra small bathroom with just a toilet. The apartment gets sunlight in the morning and afternoon, is heated with a traditional central gas system, and has super fast internet and a high-quality Sonos sound system. Located just steps from the city center, you are very close to the main attractions, airport connections, the biggest mall in the city (which even has a supermarket open on Sunday!), and the two biggest parks (Stadtpark and Prater).

Guest access

There are just a few steps at the entrance, and then there is an elevator.

Neighbourhood

The area around the apartment is called "Weissgerberviertel" and sits right between the Danube Canal and Vienna's 1st district, where you find the Hundertwasserhaus - an iconic unconventional apartment building with colourful, round designs made by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. You can walk to the city center in just a few minutes from here. Also close by are the Stadtpark, Vienna's oldest park, and the Prater, one of the oldest amusement parks in the world, with the famous Ferris wheel and lots of green space to chill out in. Just two minutes away from our place, there's a great spot for Viennese food, a cozy coffee bar, a supermarket, a pharmacy, and a drugstore. When you fly into Vienna, you'll probably come through Wien-Mitte station, which is only a 10-minute walk from here. This place is also where you find the city's biggest mall and one of the 6 supermarkets that are open on Sundays! Also, The Landstraße, a main shopping street with three malls close to each other and some of the best bakeries around, is very close. The 1st district, the vibrant heart of Vienna is just around the corner within walking distance too. Visiting here means you're in a spot that's both peaceful and exciting, with everything you need just a short walk away. It's a great mix of the old and new, making it a perfect place to be in Vienna.

Getting to my home

Getting to the apartment is quite easy. By Air: If you’re flying into Vienna, you'll land at Vienna International Airport (VIE). From there, the easiest way to get to the apartment is by taking the City Airport Train (CAT) or the S7 train to Wien-Mitte station. The CAT is a bit faster, taking about 16 minutes, while the S7 might take around 25 minutes. Once you arrive at Wien-Mitte, it's a short 10-minute walk. By Road: If you're driving to Vienna, the city is well-connected by major highways. Once in Vienna, navigate towards the 1030 district. Depending on your starting point within Austria or from neighboring countries, use a GPS for the most direct route. There’s usually enough street-parking spots available in the area, but it requires a fee to park during weekdays, so check parking options in advance or message me if you want recommendations. By Rail: Vienna is well served by its rail system, with connections from many major cities in Europe. If you’re arriving by train, you'll likely arrive at Wien Hauptbahnhof (the main train station) or Wien Westbahnhof. From Wien Hauptbahnhof, you can take tram line O towards Praterstern, getting off at the station “Radetzkyplatz”. From Wien Westbahnhof, you can take the U3 subway line to Wien-Mitte and then walk 10 minutes or catch a tram and walk 2 minutes. Walking: If you’re already in the city center or staying close by, walking can be a great option. Vienna is a pedestrian-friendly city with plenty of signs. From Wien-Mitte, simply head towards the 1030 district, following the signs towards Landstraße, and from there, the apartment is easy to find with a map or smartphone GPS.

Luca

Hello! We are Dani and Luca. Dani is a handweaver and clinical herbalist from Canada. Luca is an Austrian entrepreneur who runs an artisanal ice cream business. We are tidy, respectful, and caring individuals in our late 30's/early 40’s and love coffee dates, art, museums, walking around and discovering new places, or just relaxing at home reading and cooking. Our Vienna apartment, recently updated, combines historical charm with a modern kitchen and bathroom. It's located in a calm neighbourhood, very close to the city's center and near big parks like Stadtpark and Prater. My partner and I plan to spend more time in Canada in the next few years. So, we're excited to offer our Vienna apartment for house swaps, ideal for anyone looking to experience the city's rich culture and beauty. Can't wait to make our home your temporary spot!
