General overview

We call our cabin "Bellavista" — you'll see why! Stunning views from a newly updated elegant chalet overlooking the Bryce Resort slopes. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring natural light and Shenandoah Valley's beauty into this spacious retreat that sleeps up to 8. Bellavista features a wood-burning fireplace, jetted tub for 2, high speed wifi, patio w/bbq & fire table, 2 balconies. You'll be moments from the ski/bike lift, golf and lake, with an easy drive to wineries/breweries, hiking, quaint historic towns, caverns and more. Sip your coffee and take in the sunrise over the mountains from the upper balcony, or stay cozy inside and watch hawks circle at almost eye level through floor-to-ceiling windows as you dig your feet into a cloudlike rug in the spacious living room with loft ceilings. Keep an eye on the sky to see the small propeller airplanes coming in to land, or follow the adventures of the mountain bikers or skiers (depending on the season!) as they make their way down the slopes. At the end of the day pull a bottle from a local vineyard out of the wine fridge and prepare dinner in a kitchen ready for people who love to cook, complete with an induction stove, custom burled wood cabinets and granite countertops. Or you can step onto the front deck to grill some steaks while you sit around the fire table. Play board games by the wood burning fireplace inside as you watch the resort make snow for tomorrow's adventurers in the winter, or relax for a movie by logging into your streaming accounts on the Roku. Three bedrooms and a semi-private loft offer flexible options for guests to rest and work, together and apart, with comfortable beds, ceiling fans, abundant pillows and plenty of drawers to make yourself at home. - MAIN FLOOR QUEEN has en suite bathroom with stand-up shower and a washer and dryer (south/west windows) - MOUNTAIN VIEW KING shares full bathroom downstairs (southeast facing window w/mountain views) - MOUNTAIN VIEW QUEEN downstairs features a desk and 50 inch television with Roku (southeast facing window w/mountain views) - MOUNTAIN VIEW LOFT TWIN/KING daybed (expands into a king if desired, let us know if you'd like it set up) and has spectacular views of the sunrise from southeast facing windows that span the entire length of the house. +JETTED TUB FOR 2 - Looking for a little alone time with a view? Step into a romantic jetted tub for two in its own room on the lower floor with a picture window overlooking the mountains (very private) with direct access to a separate balcony nestled in the trees. The room is stocked with spa robes. CHILDREN are welcome at Bellavista and we have a collection of games, toys and books for them to enjoy. There is a pack n'play (safe sleep surface so can be used as a crib) and high chair. DOGS over 1-year-old, housebroken and well-behaved are welcome. Two dogs (any size - we love big dogs!) and they must be disclosed ahead of arrival. Note that dogs must be on leash outside the house according to local law. All waste must be picked up and disposed of in the trash per local codes. A fantastic fenced community dog park is located at the airport, a 10 minute walk from the house, where pups can run free.

Guest access

There are zero stairs to enter the house and access the main floor, bedroom, bathroom and living areas. Down a set of stairs you will find two more bedrooms, a full bathroom and a separate room with a jetted tub, plus another balcony. Up the loft stairs from the living room give another space with a bank of windows, a daybed and bookshelf. There is easy parking in front of the house. The private mountain roads in the resort are well maintained with little traffic, so you can enjoy walks through the wooded neighborhood drive. A 3 minute drive down the hill will get you to Bryce Resort Lodge.

Neighbourhood

Bryce Resort has ski slopes that you can mountain bike on in the summer, and 18-hole golf course, a lake that you can get beach access or kayaks on in the summertime, there is a beautiful hike around the lake that I recommend as well as fishing. Next to the resort is mini golf, brewery and farm stand. With in 20 to 35 minutes, you will find wineries, caverns, breweries, farms, small downtowns for antiquing, a potato chip factory that you can tour, a covered bridge and all sorts of other wonderful, beautiful things in nature. The cabin is close to the George Washington national Forest and about an hour from the official entrance to Shenandoah National Park.

Getting to my home

Drive is about an hour and 15 minutes from Dulles airport outside of Washington, DC. It's 2 hours from Washington, DC and about two and a half from Richmond, Virginia.

Nearest airport

If you have a private plane, there is an airstrip right at the resort. If you're flying in, I recommend coming into Dulles, airport code IAD.

Getting around

You'll need a car to drive around, ideally with all wheel drive in the winter if there is snow on the ground. There isn't a public transportation or a taxi/Uber presence in the resort.

We live in Washington DC with our two children and sweet dog Mia. While we love the vibrancy and convenience of living on Capitol Hill, we find balance through our escape from city life in the Shenandoah valley. We traveling, throughout the US and all around the world. Between the two of us we've experienced almost 50 countries. Fun facts: As a young adult Page traveled in Up With People, touring in a musical show and doing community service throughout the United States and Scandinavia. J.D. once put a couple of trips with friends back to back, woke up in Scotland, traveled back home to Los Angeles to change suitcases and went to bed in Costa Rica with a different set of friends. For our wedding in Santa Barbara we put everyone on a bus for an all day wine tasting tour!
