General overview

My house is a nice flat in a little village in the Alps, near famous skiing centres like Bardonecchia, Sauze d'Oulx, Montgenevre, Sestriere: all these destnations can be reached in 30-40 minutes by car. In 1 hour it is possible to reach Briancon , a nice medieval town in France near the border with Italy, very characteristic.

The space

The flat is composed of a living room with a fireplace, kitchenette, a bathroom, a bedroom, two balconies, a ski cellar. The walls are covered with wooden paneling and it is supplied by heating system. There is a reserved parking space in the private garage (not advisable in winter because the snow covers the access ramp to the garage and you risk getting stuck, even if you fit snow chains).

Guest access

it is located on the first floor. It is not recommended for disables, there are steps everywhere. It has a balcony opening onto the forest of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand

Notes

The house is comfortable, and is located in a small village 15 minutes away by car from the city of Susa (see photo), which is a medieval town with roman remains and where there are all kinds of shops. The Frais hamlet does not have food shops, but it is a magnificent place to stay for lovers of nature, mountains and snow.

Neighbourhood

The house is located in the hamlet of Frais at 1560 m. of the municipality of Chiomonte, Piedmont, Italy, surrounded by forests and mountains, with paths for walking in the woods, or ski itineraries in the mountains in winter. It is located on the edge of the hamlet, the last house in front of the Gran Bosco di Salbertrand forest. Deer, badgers, foxes, hares and other wild animals often pass by the house. It is surrounded by a shared garden where in summer you can sunbathe or have a barbecue. Various hiking trails start from the house, including the Sentiero dei Franchi, but also many itineraries up to the nearby peaks. By car you can reach some farms in the mountains where cows are raised and you can buy butter, cheese and eggs. At about 30' away by car here is the Lake of Mont Cenis (see photo), at 2000 m, where it is possible to fish troutes and other salmonides. In the nearby there is the ancient Abbey of Saint Michel, on the top of a mountain, built in the year 983-987. (see photo). In the village there is a hotel (Albergo Belvedere) with a bar and restaurant, where you can eat typical menus at affordable prices (20-25 euros), two bar and a Pizzeria.

Getting to my home

The house can be reached only by car. There are no public transport. It can be reached (by car) from Turin airport in 1 hour along the A32 Motorway. The city of Turin is 45 minutes away by car.

Getting around

From the house you can reach the city of Turin in about 1 hour by car. I can borrow one of my cars if needed. Turin is a very interesting citiy and it was the sixth most loved cities in Italy in 2023 according to tripadvisor: there are many monuments, shops, museums (the egyptian museum is the second in the world after the Cairo museum) and unique treasures (like the Holy Shroud in which Jesus was wrapped after the crucifixion), together with historic buildings, castles, Roman and medieval remains, gardens (like the famous Valentino garden). You can have a trip on boat on the Po river or you can take trips on a historic tram that runs through the city, and even have lunch or dinner on the tram.
