General overview
Red Island (Rote Insel) in Berlin's Schöneberg district is an enchanting urban oasis that offers a unique blend of historical charm, vibrant community life, and serene green spaces, making it an ideal place for families to reside. Known for its distinct boundary, formed by railway lines, this neighborhood feels like a secluded enclave in the heart of the bustling city. Families can enjoy the calm and safety of Rote Insel, taking advantage of its numerous parks and playgrounds for leisure and recreation. The local community is tight-knit and welcoming, hosting various cultural events and festivals that celebrate diversity and bring neighbors together. With excellent connectivity to the rest of Berlin, thanks to its efficient public transport system, and a plethora of cafes, shops, and schools, Rote Insel provides a balanced urban living experience that combines convenience with a strong sense of belonging. This blend of community, culture, and comfort makes Rote Insel not just a place to live, but a place to call home, perfect for immersing in the Berlin experience while enjoying a family-friendly environment.

Notes
We are interested in spending a school year starting August/September 2024 in the UK with our 9-year-old son and are therefore looking for a swap partner who would like to spend a year in Berlin in return. Since we usually rent out our apartment, we are flexible with the timing of your stay in our home. We are very familiar with the Berlin school system and would be happy to assist with advice and support should you have children of your own.
Berlin Metropolitan School (English, private) ist reachable within 22min (door to door, 6 stops with the S1).
There are also multiple schools (primary and secondary, public and private) available in this district. All within walking distance.
