General Overview
My house is a lovely penthouse located at a 25 min walk to the center of Madrid. It has a 20 sqm terrace with a bbq. Half of the terrace is partially covered and isolated (sunroom).
The Space
This apartment has 1 bedroom with ensuite bathroom and a separate toilet. It includes a workspace and a big sofa with a TV to relax after a day in the city.
Obviously the best part of the house is the terrace. You will be able to sunbathe and relax in the sun while you prepare a bbq and also you can relax in the sunroom. It has an AC that can be set to heat mode so you don't get cold at night.
I'd love that you took care of my plants while we exchange; I'll let you know how if you're not a plant person.

The house is located in a 5th floor but it has no elevator, so please be prepared to train your glutes!

Neighbourhood
Cuatro Caminos is a vibrant neighbourhood and it has a bit of everything! It's close to one of the biggest business areas so you'll find nice shops and local bars around, but it is also home to many Latinos, so you'll find the best arepas and the best avocados in town.
Getting to my home
If you fly to Madrid, you can catch the metro (line 8) at Nuevos Ministerios after a 15 min walk. It will take you to the airport in 20 min more or less.
If you come by train, Chamartín station is 20 min by metro and Atocha is 35 min away.
There is no free parking space around, so if you drive to Madrid I recommend you get a private parking or leave your car outside the city.

Madrid Barajas airport is aprox 40 min by public transport.
Getting Around
The apartment is located in the center of Madrid, and is close to Cuatro Caminos and Alvarado metro stations (lines 1, 2 and 6). The metro will take you to Puerta del Sol in 15 min.

We had a wonderful exchange in Yaiza's place! The house is located in a central area close to 2 metro lines, bars and supermarkets. Moreover, it has a wonderful rooftop! Yaiza was the perfect host and she waited for us even though we arrived pretty late. -
Yaiza ha sido una anfitriona fantástica! Su hogar es muy bonito y cercano al metro, por lo que nos fue de maravilla :) Como era el final de nuestro viaje, aprovechamos de descansar bastante al interior y la verdad es que fue muy cómodo para nosotros. Muchas gracias por todo y si alguna dia vienes a Chile, las puertas del hogar están abiertas para ti! -
We had a wonderful stay at Yaiza's place. First and foremost, the communication with Yaiza was super easy and pleasant - from start to finish. She's a joy. The apartment itself is very comfortable and the terrace is absolutely spectacular. We loved that it has an open section with couches and grill, as well as a covered area with a large table. We ate all our breakfasts outside and did some yoga and meditating as well. The apartment is bright and airy, with tons of windows and a lovely cross breeze when it's cool out. There's also very good air conditioning. We tried to use is sparingly, but there was a wicked heat wave when we were there and it saved us. The apartment is located in what seems to be an up and coming neighborhood, with diverse food options (tapas, of course, plus excellent Venezuelan arepas and killer Korean food). It's not exactly centrally located, but with Madrid's excellent metro and it's close proximity to the Cuatro Caminos metro stop, it was easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. It's important to note that there are more than 90 stairs leading up to the apartment and no lift, so it's not for everyone. But for us, the climb was worth the reward. We'll always remember our time there fondly. Thanks Yaiza!! -
I was for a few weeks in the apartment of Yaiza. What a great place. An amazing roof terrace with views over the city and mountains with snow. You have to climb more than 80 steps. But it is more than worth it. Furthermore, a wonderful place to recover from a day in the city. All amenities are there. Terrific
