Our house is on a main road between the village of Cloughjordan (Ireland’s only Eco Village) and the town of Nenagh (One of the Friendliest town in Ireland). Situated in North Tipp, the local area is scenic and quite;It is centrally located for all tourism attractions both locally and further afield. You can literally go north, south,east or west from here. There are train services in nearby towns of Cloughjordan, Nenagh and Templemore which will take you to other major cities and counties. Dublin is an hour and ½ away by Train from Templemore station and Cork is similar.
On your doorstep you have many attractions within easy reach. We are 20 mins away from the River Shannon with lovely villages and loughs dotted around the area, i.e., Dromineer, Garrykennedy, Castleknock and further up the Shannon, towns like Killaloe, Portumna, Carrick-on-Shannon, all with friendly pubs and great eateries.
Watersports and cruiser rental are also available to book locally and Waterways of Ireland can be accessed from many of these loughs.
There are numerous Golf clubs in the area with the future 2027 Ryder Cup Course in the town of Adare less than 50 mins away.
If golf is not your thing, there are family attractions like the unique Lough Boora Discovery Park nestled in the cutaway boglands of Offaly where you can easily spend a day.
Take a trip to Birr Castle, or visit the Rock of Cashel, or pay a visit to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, and stay for their Medieval Banquet!
The nearby M7 motorway allows you access to the rest of the country. Limerick City is 35 mins away with Dublin City under 2 hours by train or car. You are in reach of nearby counties, Offaly, Limerick, Galway, Clare, Cork, Waterford Kilkenny and Laois. Each with their own attractions and tourist-must-visit-sites to explore. Visit Clare and see the Cliffs of Moher and enjoy the Burren, Lough Gur in Limerick, Clonmacnoise in Offaly or hop on a train to Dublin, where you can do Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse and the Book of Kells in a day out!
Other day out sites worth visiting when you are so centrally based, include, a trip to Killarney National Park, The Ring of Kerry, The Dingle Peninsula, The Skellig Islands, Doolin.
We are 50 minutes from Shannon Airport, 2 hours Knock, 1½ hours from Cork, and under 2 hours from Dublin Airport.
