General overview

Our home is over 100 years old... Thats old by Australian standards! It is filled with character and located in a quite suburb surrounded by bush.

The space

We have four bedrooms with 4 single beds and a king size bed in the main bedroom. One of the rooms is currently set up as a study. Our newly built sunroom is the perfect spot to relax or read a book. The cottage is positioned in the middle of an extra large block. It straddles native bush to the east and a food forest to the west. The focal point is our large back deck which can be enjoyed all year round.

Guest access

Single level.

Notes

We do have a menagerie of animals here. Along with the greenhouse it is rather like a suburban homestead. We have chickens, ducks, a few guinea pigs (one that roams free) and 2 leaf insects.

Neighbourhood

We live in a historic village that is surrounded by bush. There is a grocery store, chemist, bakery etc a short walk down the road and a larger grocery store and takeaway food options a few kilometers away. There is a heated swimming pool around the corner... but even better... we are half hour from some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. Redhead is our favorite but Newcastle Baths and Merewether Baths are fantastic for families with small children. Our house is 30 minutes drive to the Hunter Valley Vineyards and 1.5 hours from Sydney.

Getting to my home

There is a bus stop at the end of the street. But you would get here quicker via Uber or taxi!

Nearest airport

We are 40 minutes from Newcastle Airport. Otherwise 1.5 hours from Sydney. There is a train that links Sydney to Newcastle. The closest train station would be Cardiff (10 minutes away).

Getting around

Walk to shops and the bus stop (however bus isn't very reliable). You would probably need a hire car.

Wendy

Amazing family of five. Dad Adam, Mum Wendy. And... Alfie 9, Lou 8, Julian 7. We loved to travel before kids and recently realised we should be doing that again. Really keen to exchange homes with other amazing families for 1 month + so we can show our kids the world.
