Neighbourhood

Where to start! Restaurants, bars, parks etc. Historic Chelsea District and the beautiful townhomes are just two blocks away. We are within walking distance of the High Line and art galleries. We are about 20 blocks away from the theater district, which is an easy taxi/uber or the subway. You can do the same for museums and Central Park. The major subway lines are on both corners of our block, there is also a cross town bus on our street. We walk most everywhere and don't own a car because we rarely need one. Chelsea is South of Midtown (Times Square and Macy's areas) and North of the West Village. (If you want to sound like you are a New Yorker, don't say North or South. Say uptown or downtown.) We are surrounded by places that are often visited from people of town.

Nearest airport

The three major airports are JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. There are shuttles, taxis and ubers

Getting Around

We are in the center of everything most people want to see when they visit NYC. You can walk to many of the major tourist sites, restaurants, grocery and drug stores easily.

Melanie

I'm Melanie, 62 and my husband Jim is 71. We are retired from our construction related careers (architecture and engineering). Our son is off to college in Fall 2025 (studying Construction Management of course). We started PLU in Summer 2024 when we lived in NYC and love PLU... We are amazed at how friendly everyone is! Since then, we have moved and have just finished remodeling our new San Francisco apartment. We hope to be exchanging in late 2025 or early 2026. (Pictures coming soon!) We have three cats. They are very friendly and are relatively low maintenance (except they all want attention).
