General overview

Our charming home was built in 1940. It's a perfect old-Atlanta home with lots of light, a gas fireplace, and arched doorways. It's compact, but convenient and wonderful for children with an art nook and small playset in our backyard. You can walk to restaurants and access bike paths into various parts of the city. Mass transit is less than a 10 minute walk.

The space

You enter our home on a screened front porch. The front door opens to a living room with a fireplace, L-shaped couch, and television. From there the house moves to a well-lit dining room with a round table and four chairs. Continuing back, there is a small art nook for little ones, opposite of that is a door that leads to the (2) bedrooms and (1) bathroom. There is a king-sized bed in one room, and a bunk bed with a twin/double combination and crib in the other. Both have overhead ceiling fans. The bathroom is between the bedrooms. It is small, with a bathtub/shower combination. From the closet of the children's bedroom, you can access a playroom in the attic. It is also a nice place to blow up a queen-sized air mattress for more privacy if there are older kids in your family. The kitchen is fully equipped (gas oven/stove, microwave, Vitamix, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, etc...) From the kitchen, there is a laundry room with full-size washer and dryer. A door from the laundry room leads to a parking pad. Outside there is a fenced backyard, that can be accessed by traversing the parking pad. The backyard has a playset and small soccer goal. There is also a shade structure. Outside there is a shed that houses an electric bike and kid's bike. We moved in July 2023, so all furniture (including mattresses) are new. The mattresses have allergen covers. We are a no-shoe household and I would ask that guests do that as well. There is a basement area that I use for my home office. This is where the cat's food and litterbox are kept. We do ask that you provide some cat care, though it is minimal. But they are ever-present guests. A door to the "bedroom" section allows you to shut them off in the main part of the home at night.

Guest access

The main part of the house is accessible through three steps through the front door, or a larger staircase at the back of the home. Unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. You do not need to access the attic, if you don't wish. But we do need someone to assist with the cat's food and automatic litterbox downstairs. The front door has two deadbolts. The backdoor is accessed through a key code, which I can set for individual guests.

Notes

- This is a no-shoe household. - We have two cats that require care. There is an automatic litterbox, so that part is fortunately minimal. - There is a burglar alarm that you can set at night if needed, but I rarely do.

Neighbourhood

Lake Claire is a close-knit, friendly neighborhood. Two playgrounds are walkable. A small market, and restaurants are are .9 miles/1.4km. The local rail (MARTA) station is less than a 10 minute walk. Downtown is accessible by Marta. You are walking or biking distance to fun areas like Kirkwood and Decatur. Atlanta is a city of neighborhoods.

Getting to my home

Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is a 30 minute drive by car. It can also be accessed via Marta, but there is short walk to the house (less than 10 minutes).

Nearest airport

The Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is 30 minutes by taxi.

Getting around

We are walking distance to a market with a small selection of groceries, deli and large selection of wine/beer. There is an electric bike with a basket for use. Car could be discussed. I'm new to exchanges, so not sure how I would feel about car loan. But Uber and Lyft are easy options, too.
