General overview
My home is a 3 bed detached property in a quiet cul-de-sac within walking distance of the town of Dunfermline which lies in Edinburghs commuter belt. The house has a corner plot with large, mature garden and a wood fired Swedish hot tub.
The space
The house has three spacious double bedrooms, and the third bedroom is currently used as a home office with working space for 2 persons, but it could be converted easily to a third bedroom with built in storage and space for a third double bed.
There's two bathrooms, one upstairs with a waterfall shower over the large L shaped bath and one WC downstairs.
The kitchen is newly renovated, featuring high quality finishes such as wooden teak worktops, a ceramic belfast sink and the centrepiece is a combination gas/electric range cooker with 5 burners. The kitchen has all the mod-cons, including a built in dishwasher, fridge freezer and De'Longhi bean to cup coffee machine.
The living room spans the full length of the house and has a spacious seating/TV area at one side, with seating for 5 (one x 2 person sofa ad 1 x 3 person l shaped sofa). There is a mantlepiece and fireplace and new carpet throughout. At the other end of the room is a large wooden dining table with seating for up to 6.
From the dining space there's the entrance to the conservatory. The conservatory is stylishly decorated and thanks to the south facing garden, gets the sun all day meaning is super warm in spring, summer and autumn and offers views of the mature gardens for a warmer inside-outside space on cooler evenings.
We've got a large back garden, completely private in the summer with lots of mature trees and plants. There's a lawn section for lounging, plus a decked area with a picnic bench, fire pit and 3 ponds! The whole garden is secure with a locked 6ft gate. In the back corner of the garden amongst the trees is a Swedish wood fired hot tub which is fabulous in any season. The garden has various benches and space for a herb garden. It's fully south facing and my favourite thing about the house.
There's also a large driveway to the front of the house with parking for 3 vehicles.
We have a single garage next to the property, use of the garage would depend on parking availability at the property that we swap with so is TBC but potentially could be included.

Neighbourhood
Dunfermline is a small town that was recently awarded city status as part of a royal decree! It's the old capital of Scotland and within the commuter belt of Edinburgh.
It's got two train stations within walking distance of my home and it's just over 30 mins on the train via the iconic Forth Rail Bridge into Edinburgh. There's good bus links to Glasgow and beyond too.
The city has plenty of cafés and restaurants, and a large park with an Abbey, botanical gardens and views of the bridges.
There's great access to the Highlands by rail or road and Scotlands premier ski resort in Aviemore is only 2.5 hours away by car.
Getting to my home
Fly or train into Edinburgh and then bus or train from there to Dunfermline.
Nearest airport
Edinburgh, 25 mins drive or 1 hour by bus.
Getting around
You can walk into the town in 25 mins. There's also a bus which takes 5 mins.

I'm Sophie and I live in Dunfermline, just north of Edinburgh with my husband Dave. We both work primarily from home, with our cats and plants.
I'm a civil servant, and Dave's a web developer. We enjoy travel, food, hiking and climbing (and live close to Europes largest indoor climbing arena!). We've not house swapped before, but we have used house sitters to watch our home and pets while on holiday so are used to sharing our home with people we trust to look after it.
We're looking for a longer term swap, our home for a place in or around Munich, Germany (within 90 mins max by car). We are looking for a minimum of 3 months, but 8-12 months ideally, and we would have our 3 cats with us, who are of course very well behaved.
