Our home is in regional New South Wales Australia, 84kms south of Sydney and just 9kms south of the town of Wollongong (population 315,000). The 2nd bedroom, home/office and kitchen all have glass sliding doors that open onto the outside deck measuring over 60sqm, that overlooks the district out to Lake Illawarra and beyond that, the Pacific Ocean. The deck is equipped with outdoor seating and BBQ facilities.
The space
Our home is very comfortable, fully air conditioned with split systems in both the lounge room and master bedroom. There are 2 bedrooms, both with Queensize beds. The master bedroom has a walk-in robe (with plenty of free space to hang guest clothes) and also an ensuite bathroom with step in shower. The 2nd bedroom has a built-in robe and right next door to the main bathroom in the house. The lounge room has a gas heater which heats the entire home during winter. There is high speed wifi throughout the home. The main bathroom has a full bath and also a front loading washing machine.
Guest access
The interior of our home is 143sqm, is completely level with just one step up at the front porch, making it very easy access. Parking is off street at the front of the property, right at the front door. The rear garden is well maintained with lawn. The entire block measures 677sqm. The lawn will be maintained by professional gardener and is not your responsibility, however, watering the garden and herbs will be much appreciated.
Notes
There will be two cars parked at the rear of the property under a carport. If we are doing a reciprocal swap and you're making your car available, we're open to providing a car for your use too.
There is a cleaning fee of $AU70 for guests staying more than 5 days.

Neighbourhood
The street we live is very quiet with no through traffic. Lake Illawarra is 400 metres away and has a walking/cycling track that takes you around the Lake. There you will see the local birdlife and 2kms from the home is a boat ramp for launching small vessels for fishing or water skiing.
Our local Shopping Plaza complete with 3 supermarkets, fruit & veg market, cinemas and cafes are less than 2kms away. Port Kembla beach, complete with ocean pool is only 4.5kms away (see photos).
Getting to my home
If arriving in Sydney by plane, the train out of Sydney airport (both domestic and international) will take you to our local train station (Unanderra station) just 5kms away and a Uber or Taxi will cost you approx $AU13 to get you here. If you are driving, you take the M1 Motorway south of Sydney and take the Northcliffe Drive exit. from there, it's 4kms to our home.
Nearest airport
Mascot Airport, Sydney.
Getting around
At the end of our street, just 300 metres away, is a bus stop that takes you to the old steelworks township of Port Kembla, where you can check out the architecture of the 1950's when the town boomed during is heyday as an industrial port. Now it is home to cafes, restaurants, a yoga centre, a nightclub and art gallery precinct. Another bus stop 800 metres away takes you to the city centre of Wollongong, where you can walk to the lighthouse, sea pool and many restaurants that line the foreshore (see photo). Wollongong is also home to the Merrigong Theatre, Art galleries and Indigenous cultural centres. If wanting to travel further afield, you can catch a bus to the train station 5kms away and travel up to Sydney. 80% of the trip is through the Royal National Park so settle back and enjoy the view. Trains run every hour from dawn until midnight. If driving by freeway up to Sydney, you can take the M1 Motorway.

We are a retired couple in our early 60s looking to do some travel around the world. We are proud home owners and respect other peoples belongings and space. We're looking to exchange our home with other likeminded folks looking to explore Australia and all it has to offer. We're interested in visiting Spain, Portugal, Italy, Crete and France between August and November 2024. Open to short and long stays.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
