Neighbourhood
Moonta is famously known as "Little Cornwall" due to large immigration to the area during the late 1800's on the discovery of large copper deposits. The area is now National Heritage listed with World Heritage listing applications currently in place.
The location is widely know as the Copper Triangle with the townships of Wallaroo and Kadina both close by. Kadina, 10 minute drive away is our closest major centre with an Aldi, Woolworths and other major stores.
Moonta has a beautiful main street with a good 7 day supermarket, chemist, bakery and several pubs and restaurants.
Nearest airport
Adelaide Airport - 2 hours
Getting Around
Moonta Bay is 2 hours drive from Adelaide. There are bus services to the area but a car is the most efficient mode of transport. The provision of a car, left at the Adelaide airport, could be negotiated based on a simultaneous stay.
There are local taxi services available also

People Like Us Local Guide
If you are in the area, hit us up so we can show you around our beautiful area
When I saw Sue offering their beautiful house in Moonta Bay, I couldn't resist reaching out. We've always wanted to visit South Australia and this turned out to be the most amazing sim exchange we could have hoped for.
Sue and Jay's beach house is quite literally that - a house on the actual beach (I don't think it's possible to be any closer to the ocean). We saw some stunning sunsets, a phenomenal storm and rising tides, even a dolphin swimming across the bay at sunset on Mother's Day. It was a real privilege to just be able to stroll down to the beach with our toddler to play or go for a short walk and grab a coffee at the jetty.
The house itself is big and open, but with lots of comfy spots to gaze out into the ocean or curl up with a book. Even though it was late autumn, it was very warm inside.
We were also grateful for the chance to use their car. We loved exploring the Copper Coast and Yorke Peninsula, so rich in history, full of breathtaking nature and charming towns. We very lucky to experience the Kernewek Lowender, the worlds largest Cornish Festival and get a glimpse into the past and traditions of the area. We can only imagine how beautiful it is in spring and summer!
We had the pleasure of being Sue and Jay's first exchange partners, and we wish them many more happy exchanges in the future!
Sue and Jay were excellent exchange partners, especially considering this was their first exchange. Communication was smooth and easy from the start and we were in touch throughout the whole exchange. They took care of our apartment and our car as their own. We would gladly exchange with them again!
We LOVED Zadar!
The apartment is beautifully located. Its an easy 15 minute walk to the beach and numerous restaurants and bars. Directly across the road (but in no way noisy) is the Billiard Club - a great place to have a coffee or beer day or night. They make great late night pizzas too. There is a supermarket and butcher also over the road. Furthermore there is a selection of very good restaurants in very easy walking distance.
We spent several evenings (when we were not out and about) people watching and enjoying sunsets from the balcony.
The apartment itself is modern, clean and well appointed. It was perfect for the two of us. The house instructions were clear and appropriate. We were delighted to find a small selection of local produce in the fridge on arrival and discovered some delights we would not have known existed.
Jelena's family are nearby and incredibly supportive. We really enjoying getting to know them and will keep in touch!
On top of that - Zadar! If you have not been, we would absolutely suggest you do.
We have been so incredibly fortunate to have had Jelena, Tom and little Iva as our first exchange. Jelena was incredibly supporting and mentored us through our first swap. We have learnt so much and will be better educated swappers next time. We could not have been happier with the communication all the way through.
On top of this, Jelena and Tom left our home in the most immaculate condition. We thought we had left our beloved home with her best foot forward but on return a few days ago she seemed to shine even more. It was a delight to come home after 5 weeks ago and an long journey from Croatia to Australia. They even agreed at the last minute to care for our family budgie so he could stay at home. Our plants were cared for perfectly too.
We can highly recommend this beautiful family for an exchange.
