General overview
We are only the third owner of this home built in 1926. It has so many unique characteristics, like custom woodwork, an old carriage house (garage), original flooring and vintage windows. It sits on 1/3 of an acre, providing loads of space for outdoor entertaining.
We love how close it is to get to anything in town - 5 minute walk to the cute downtown for shopping, dinner or a movie, or 5 minute drive to nearly anywhere else, including in infamous Kal Beach!
Spectacular Lake Country wineries are only 25 mins away, as is Silver Star Mountain for skiing, downhill mountain biking, tubing, x-country, you name it!
The space
Outside:
The covered front porch is the best place to have a morning coffee and listen to the birds. The backyard has everything you could wish for - huge swimming pool, BBQ, pergola, and pool house!
Main floor: Fall in love with the 1920's era light fixtures and attention to finishing details. Living room and dining room have doors that open onto the front porch, amazing for entertaining. Kitchen and main floor bathroom have been updated. One bedroom on this level (queen) and an office.
Upstairs: Primary bedroom (king) with huge walk-in closet. One other bedroom (twin, converts to king). TV room with office set up. Laundry, bathroom with clawfoot bathtub on this floor.
Basement: Partially finished. Full bathroom (great for pool use), gym setup, workbench, extra laundry and an extra full-size refrigerator.
Guest access
Main level is accessible with 1 step onto the porch. Has enough amenities to not need to use stairs.
Getting upstairs and downstairs (to walk-out basement) are accessed by steer stairways.
Alternative access to backyard through kitchen, also requires stairs to get to the yard.

People Like Us Local Guide
Happy to meet up with any travelers or provide insight on things to do in the Okanagan region of Canada!
A stunning characterful home that is exceptionally unique in Canada! It was a real treat sitting by the pool on a hot summer's day. An easy walk to town and so much to do on your doorstep, this is exactly why we love home exchanges!
So excited that this space was available at the last-minute! Incredibly central location in Vernon, such a beautiful heritage home with a backyard that has a space for so many different needs. A great space to hole up for a few days in the pool!
Beautiful home full of character and modern updates made our stay perfect. Also, walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. Great communication as well.
Thanks Jenna and Dave for the exchange, our home is a work in progress so it means a lot when people come to visit and give us the opportunity to exchange! We would love you to come again! x
Hosting Jenna and her family was easy. They were respectful and left the house clean. Would happily host again.
Becky's home is in a great location for access to Squamish's various activities! The upstairs is tastefully renovated, modern, and clean. Main floor was clean and looks like plans to update are in the works :) Back yard is fully fenced with a beautiful hot tub to relax in.
Good communication, easy to check-in, would go back!
Becky and her family left our house perfectly clean, I wouldn't have known they were even here! Happy to host again :)
Sarah was an amazing guest! I returned home to fresh flowers and would otherwise never had known someone had been here. Would happily host anytime :)
Nice, clean house with a beautiful backyard garden!
Walking to transit (above-ground train) takes about 5 minutes, though there are a large number of stairs to go down/up, so need good mobility. Also a good shopping center close just a further couple minute walk - restaurants, coffee, nice grocery, etc.
Being on the west edge of the city made it easy for us to do a day trip out to Banff and Canmore.
Will definitely look to stay here again when we go back to Calgary!
Guests were respectful of our home, leaving it the same as when we left!
Lovely, well-equipped house so close to the beach! There are great restaurants on the beach for drinks & food. Nicest beach I've been to on the west coast of Mexico for sure.
We did a fishing trip by hiring one of the boats off the beach and saw about 100 dolphins and 50 turtles, it was spectacular! Can What's App the captain (+52 322 147 9664) and text in Spanish.
Tips - bring pesos!!! The ATM in Lo de Marcos takes steep fees (lose 20% of exchange compared to Puerto Vallarta) and many establishments don't take credit.
The property manager can line up a taxi for leaving town, but can get there cheaply with Uber from the airport.
Enjoy!!
Great communication :)

We are empty nesters, with two adult daughters. We live in Vernon, BC and love taking advantage of all the Okanagan Valley has to offer. We also adore travelling and have flexible schedules that allow for us to be on the go frequently. We have a few pets - 2 dogs and 1 cat. They are all hypo-allergenic and the dogs are never on the furniture, so you'd never know they live here!
We're so excited to be members of the PLU community and can't wait to start sharing our home and going to others!
We are flexible, as we work remote much of the year. Feel free to reach out anytime to try to set something up, even if nothing is reflected on the calendar as available!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
