General Overview

We have a modern innercity home in a tranquil but vibrant location. Less than 4km from the very centre of Melbourne's CBD we are minutes from a variety of cafes, retail shopping, pubs, sporting facilities and the beach. Our free standing home is in a beautiful tree lined street close to parks/ playgrounds. Great neighbours;.Plentiful street parking. Tram and bus services connect you to rail and other parts of Melbourne. We love it.

The Space

Two bedrooms are on the ground floor (both QB sized beds) and two bedrooms are up a single flight of stairs (both have additional study/ bench space for work). Hydronic heating operates automatically (timer) and cooling is reverse cycle. There are floorboards throughout. We offer a separate study/ music room, a comfortable lounge & TV room, kitchen and dining room together, a separate laundry, a small garden and a backyard deck where you can BBQ, read a book and enjoy outdoor space in private. If there are only a couple of people staying, we may lock off one bedroom and bathroom (negotiable). We have a visitor parking permit available should you choose to get a car. All major car hire places are within a short walk.

The front of the house is on street level. Key box. There are a total of 4 steps from footpath level to the front door.

Notes

We have is a two storey garage on the property which has loft accommodation upstairs for two people (contains QB, small desk and 2nd bathroom). This is usually on AirBnb when we are home, but can be part of the PLU swap if a 4th bedroom is needed. Note: We don't have 'kit' for young children - like toys, pram, cot, highchair, single beds etc. That is why we have not ticked that the house is suitable for children. If you are keen to swap. you'll need to be mindful of what you require for child(ren)'s needs.

Neighbourhood

South Melbourne is a great suburb to live in and to be a visitor to Melbourne. It scores well for access to culture, retail, cafes, pubic transport availability, employment, walkability and access to cycle ways - with easy access to the CBD, coastal beaches of Port Melbourne, South Melbourne and St. Kilda. We have the lively South Melbourne indoor market, about 6 minutes walk away, which offers retail, produce, meat & seafood and cafes serving global fare. We are close to the Albert Park sporting precinct including the Sports and Aquatic Centre and also the Royal Botanic Gardens. There are great pubs, restaurants and cafes within a short walk. We have great neighbours and a beautiful outlook to two storey Victorian terraces across the road. Parking is on-street. If you choose to get a car., we have a parking permit for you.

Getting to my home

We are 26km from Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport. Taxi or ride share services are commonly available. Bus service from the airport to Melbourne is fast but it is also possible to take a combination of public bus and trains. When coming from the city, bus and tram services drop you within a 10 minute walk of the front door.

Getting Around

There are plenty of shopping options within a few minutes and up to a 15 minute walk - in Albert Park, South Melbourne and Port Melbourne. Southbank is 20 minutes. The city centre is about 30 minutes walk. Also Tram and Bus services take you to the city where train services are easily accessed. There are Car rental companies based in South Melbourne if you choose to hire a car after you arrive.

Feedback

  • We had an amazing sim exchange with Di and Ray. Communication was clear and easy, and the instructions and recommendations were well prepared. Their house is charming and well situated, with markets, lovely parks, playgrounds and everything a toddler needs within walking distance or a short public transport ride away. Six weeks of the exchange just flew by as there was always something to do, or visit, or just go for a walk. The entire experience felt comfortable and we enjoyed the beautiful neighbourhood. We truly felt relaxed and at home and would definitely love to repeat the experience. Looking forward to meeting them in person one day in the future. :)
