General overview
Our Apartment is nestled within the beautiful village of Aro'a, and is two minutes away from the (we think) best snorkelling beach in Rarotonga. With a full sized pool (shared), BBQ, full kitchen (sorry, no dishwasher!) and laundry, you can have a very cost-effective holiday if you don't want to eat out at some of the lovely restaurants, cafe's and beach bars!
It is 80's kind of style, so not upmarket, but has most things you need to enjoy a very laid back relaxing time while you are here. It is one of three apartments on the property, so the pool is shared and enjoyed by all who stay.
The space
The apartment has two bedrooms, 1 with queen sized bed and ensuite, the other three single beds, or can be 1 super king and 1 single. There is an additional bathroom close to the second bedroom which also has a washing machine. The kitchen is compact but is well equipped. The lounge has two lounge suits, one of which can be made up into a sofa bed if you didn't want three guests in the second bedroom or wanted to have up to 7 people stay. There is undercover dining and a BBQ outside.
Guest access
The apartment is on a single level.
Notes
Note: the swimming pool is not fenced, not many are in Rarotonga and this is not a local requirement.

Neighbourhood
There are no 'gated communities' in Rarotonga, and most holiday places are nestled within the community with locals living next door. While you should not be complacent with security, there is little in the way of crime here, aside from petty theft (so don't take your passports and phone to the beach and leave them unaccompanied!)
Dogs are free to roam so you will find some will accompany you to the beach (ours included!), they know their way around and there is little trouble from them. The roosters though will possibly greet you in the morning with their crowing.
Being a Christian Country, Sunday is a day of rest. No alcohol sales except in resorts and some restaurants. Apart from dairies, shops are closed on a Sunday.
Getting to my home
Aside from the occasional cruise ship, you need to fly into Rarotonga from a choice of departure of Auckland, Sydney, Honolulu or Tahiti Relax the moment the plane doors open, you can be at your accommodation in as little as 45 minutes from landing. While the Island is only 32km around, everything is pretty spread out. There are public buses but these are limited in the evenings and Sundays.
Nearest airport
Rarotonga International Airport is a 20 minute drive away.
Getting around
While the Island is only 32km around, everything is pretty spread out. There are public buses but these are limited in the evenings and Sundays. We would recommend a car, although a lot of guests opt for bikes and e-bikes are available too. A car may be available, please check with us at the time.

Eve
We are a semi-retired couple who escaped the corporate world over eight years ago in New Zealand to live the dream in the beautiful island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. One property we purchased includes three two bedroom apartments, we live in one, and rent the other two out for short term rentals. We are going to offer one of those apartments as an option for swapping. As we have listed our other property for sale, this will leave us more time to travel and we are keen on exploring the world and taking advantage of having other properties to stay in at the same time.
We are keen golfers (Rarotonga has one golf course, locals are super friendly) so generally take our golf clubs on holidays.
Rarotonga has direct flights from Auckland, Sydney, Honolulu, and Taihiti.
