Just steps from the blue waters of Mexico’s Sea of Cortez, we love our house for its amazing sunrise and sunset views, proximity to the water, and it’s comfortable layout with lots of outdoor space.
The Space
Up a short flight of steps, the main house is single level living with a spacious kitchen. This level has the main bedroom and bath, a second bedroom with detached full bath, exterior laundry (this is available to both main house and casita), dining room and rooftop deck overlooking the Sea of Cortez.
Upstairs is a separate studio unit with spectacular Sea of Cortez views, kitchenette, and luxurious bath. Note: this space is presently being improved with a king size bed and a larger kitchenette. Pictures will be updated upon completion.
Although we do not have our own pool, many of the local hotels offer free use with purchase, i.e., cocktails, lunch, etc.
**Property is not available from June 1 to November 1 due to closure during summer heat and autumn hurricane season**
**House can be made available as a studio casita, a 2 bedroom/2 bath, or 3 bedroom/3 bath, depending on how much space you need.
**Depending upon how much space you require, we may be on property during your visit. Both the main house and casita have separate entrances and patios, providing full privacy**
**Christmas/New Years is available for Globes/Plutos only**

Neighbourhood
Los Barriles is popular with outdoor enthusiasts. We are an extremely active ex-pat community offering wind sports, pickleball, well maintained hiking and mountain biking trails, numerous yoga studios, a reformer pilates studio, and loads of OHV trails. For pickleball enthusiasts, our home is just half a mile to Tres Palapas Pickleball Resort and 10 minutes to Palmas Pickleball Resort/Academy. We are just 300 steps to the nearest beach.
Just a short distance south of Los Barriles you will find the city of San José del Cabo, which offers Thursday night art walks, fine dining, and authentic Mexican traditions. To the north, you can cross over the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range and will reach the Pacific Ocean and the Pueblo Magico town of Todos Santos, just a 1.5 hour drive. Midway you will reach the town of El Triunfo, with amazing restaurants, classical piano concerts, and more of the traditional Mexican cobblestone streets.
Getting to my home
We recommend renting a car at the airport, or, a popular mode of transportation in Los Barriles is off road vehicles since we only have 2 paved roads in town! A driver can deliver you to the house and it is possible to pre arrange to have an off road vehicle delivered to you from one of the many rental companies in town
Nearest airport
Just an hour north of San Jose del Cabo (SJD) International Airport on the well traveled Highway 1
Getting Around
Having transportation is essential. We are a ten minute drive to town.
We were delighted to stay in this beautiful home, just steps from the amazing beaches of los Barriles. Even though we were only there for four nights, we managed to swim in the warm waters every day and be introduced to Pickleball at the local courts, which are also walking distance from the house. The atmosphere there was very pleasant and welcoming so we managed to learn the game in just a few visits. We were able to meet with Nancy and Jerry who were very welcoming and hospitable and helped us orient ourselves to the area. There is an abundance of restaurants in the area and the town itself is quite charming and definitely not overrun or crowded. That said we were there at the end of the season so I believe it does get more crowded during the winter months. The house is well appointed and comfortable and we enjoyed our time there. Can’t wait to go back. Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
Nancy and Jerry's home was the perfect home base for our Baja vacation. It was a perfect antidote to the Cabo resort scene, which was a little bit extra. The home itself is very comfortable and stylish, well located within a short walk to the beach and to a cafe (and pickleball club!). Nancy shared great recommendations for day trips, including a natural hot spring, snorkeling in an underwater national park, and a fascinating botanical garden tour. The house has a great kitchen and multiple nice decks/balconies. A+
Amazing! Four friends and I stayed at Nancy & Jerry’s beautiful home in Los Barriles. Communicating with Nancy was a breeze; she is quick to respond and very thorough!
The home is perfectly located a short walk from the beach, and the views from the upper patio were fantastic!
The home was in excellent condition upon arrival and we felt right at home immediately.
Pickleball, beach time, endless tacos, girl time and a fantastic retreat like home - a pretty perfect experience!
Thank you Nancy & Jerry!
We had a fantastic holiday stay at Nancy and Jerry’s casa in Los Barriles, and a great home exchange experience overall! Communication with Nancy was easy from start to finish which made the experience feel effortless. Their home is spacious, comfortable, and beautifully located with lovely sea views. We enjoyed many activities in the area (snorkeling, ATV cruising, beach walking) and one of the sweetest touches was spending time with their affectionate cuddle-bug cat. We’d happily recommend this home to other exchangers! We look forward to hosting them in Bend this summer!!
Nancy and Jerry were a breeze to communicate with and we had a really great stay at their lovely home in Los Barriles. It is perfectly set up to enjoy a stay while exploring the local area. The town is a short drive away and their home is located down a sandy dirt road in a peaceful area a short walk to the beach. We wouldn't hesitate exchanging again with them and we look forward to them staying at our casa in Loreto.
Nancy and Jerry's place was lovely, exactly what I needed for a quiet retreat. Los Barilles is a quieter town in Baja. Their casita was beautiful, perfect for a solo or couple of travelers. A large patio right off the main area makes for a great workout space and a lovely place to sit and read and catch some sun, with pretty views of the Sea of Cortez. They are a two minute walk to the beach. You'll definitely need a car as it's about an hours drive from the airport and the house is 10 minutes out of town. I didn't really do much but rest and eat seafood tacos, but there are things to do there like pickleball and ATV riding, fishing and kite surfing, but again, I was there to rest and recharge. Nancy and Jerry were lovely hosts. So if you are looking for a quiet retreat, I highly recommend their place.
Nancy and Jerry were perfect guests in our home and so easy to communicate with. They left everything as they found it and even put up with the wifi that failed while they were there. We wouldn’t hesitate to welcome them again to our casa in the sun.
Feedback for Laurie & Daniel·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
We had such a great stay at Laurie and Dan's Bend home. So tastefully done and with all the creature comforts, a fantastic spa, and a well stocked kitchen. Plus, situated at the end of the street surrounded by pines and vegetation, we felt like we were in a treehouse! Their home is just a short distance to some of the great Bend neighborhoods, restaurants, and bars, and we even were able to walk to and from Hayden Homes Amphitheater for a concert we had tickets to. The icing on the cake is how lovely Laurie and Dan are as people. I hope our PLU paths will cross again.
It was a pleasure hosting Nancy and Jerry, and their two friends! Easy communication from the start, and they left our home beautifully clean and tidy! We would gladly welcome them back anytime!
Feedback for Lala·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
We had a wonderful time at the Johnson's beautiful Lake Tahoe home. The cabin is lovely, spacious, and comfortable with every thing you could possibly need for your stay. We used a Pluto and Lala was so generous to offer us additional nights as the cabin was not being used prior to our visit. And, they thoughtfully left us two bottles of delicious wine to enjoy. We can't wait to return!
Veronica and Steven were the best guests and we loved having them in our home! We were in town ourselves the first couple days of their visit and it was such a pleasure to be able to meet them in person. We even discovered that Veronica and I share a birthday, who knew?! We are so looking forward to our stay at their Italy home later this year.
Feedback for Valerie·Non-Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
Alex and his lovely family were a joy to have at our home. We got to interact with them as we occupied our casita while they stayed in our main home. It was great to see how they. took full advantage of all that Los Barriles has to offer. They were quiet, respectful, and left our home exactly how they found it. I hope this sweet family will visit us again some day.
Feedback for Hilary·Non-Reciprocal exchange·6 nights
We welcomed Hilary and 3 of her friends to our home as a girls getaway. Hilary was a terrific communicator and they were the perfect guests. Everything was just as we left it and we'd gladly have them back any time.
Feedback for Valerie·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
Wow! What a fantastic stay we had at Valerie's home. Communication was a breeze and everything about the home and our stay was perfect. The property is well equipped and the amenities were amazing. We had travelled to the Indio area to attend the BNP Paribas tennis tournament and not only was the home situated in the perfect location for easy travel each day, Valerie provided great tips for the area and attending the tournament. We had a blast and plan to return in the future; hopefully we can enjoy Valerie's lovely home again. We're looking forward to welcoming them in Mexico in just a few weeks.
Feedback for Laurie & Daniel·Non-Simultaneous exchange·7 nights
Laurie and Daniel were an absolute dream to work with. Fantastic at communicating and checked in just the right amount of time leading up to and during their stay to ask any questions, or let us know how our sweet kitty they were so kind to keep an eye on while we were away, was doing. We're excited to visit their home in Bend, Oregon this summer.
Feedback for Angie & Bob·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
We completed our end of the exchange at Angie and Bob’s home last week and it was perfect! Their home was comfortable and well equipped in a lovely community where we walked to the beach, strolled to dinner, lounged by the pool, and played pickleball. Communication was a breeze and I was quick to let Angie know we’d exchange again with them in a heartbeat! Thanks to them for a fantastic stay in Loreto :)
Feedback for Angie & Bob·Non-Simultaneous exchange·4 nights
Angie and Bob were the ideal exchangers. Except for the happy sunflowers waiting for me when I arrived home, I wouldn't even have known they were here. The entire exchange was easy and smooth with fantastic communication. They were a great couple to help us continue the early stages of exchanging. Thanks Angie and Bob!
Feedback for ILana·Non-Reciprocal exchange·6 nights
Ilana was the perfect person to help us navigate our first exchange. Super helpful and knowledgeable of the process, but even better, she’s friendly, kind and took great care of our casita!
