Neighbourhood
Los Barriles is popular with outdoor enthusiasts. We are an extremely active ex-pat community offering wind sports, pickleball, well maintained hiking and mountain biking trails, numerous yoga studios, and loads of OHV trails. For pickleball enthusiasts, our home is just half a mile to Tres Palapas Pickleball Resort and 10 minutes to Palmas Pickleball Resort/Academy. We are just 300 steps to the nearest beach.
Just a short distance south of Los Barriles you will find the city of San José del Cabo, which offers Thursday night art walks, fine dining, and authentic Mexican traditions. To the north, you can cross over the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range and will reach the Pacific Ocean and the Pueblo Magico town of Todos Santos, just a 1.5 hour drive. Midway you will reach the town of El Triunfo, with amazing restaurants, classical piano concerts, and more of the traditional Mexican cobblestone streets.
Getting to my home
We recommend renting a car at the airport, or, a popular mode of transportation in Los Barriles is off road vehicles since we only have 2 paved roads in town! A driver can deliver you to the house and it is possible to pre arrange to have an off road vehicle delivered to you from one of the many rental companies in town
Nearest airport
Just an hour north of San Jose del Cabo (SJD) International Airport on the well traveled Highway 1
Getting Around
Having transportation is essential. We are a ten minute drive to town
Nancy and Jerry were a breeze to communicate with and we had a really great stay at their lovely home in Los Barriles. It is perfectly set up to enjoy a stay while exploring the local area. The town is a short drive away and their home is located down a sandy dirt road in a peaceful area a short walk to the beach. We wouldn't hesitate exchanging again with them and we look forward to them staying at our casa in Loreto.
Nancy and Jerry's place was lovely, exactly what I needed for a quiet retreat. Los Barilles is a quieter town in Baja. Their casita was beautiful, perfect for a solo or couple of travelers. A large patio right off the main area makes for a great workout space and a lovely place to sit and read and catch some sun, with pretty views of the Sea of Cortez. They are a two minute walk to the beach. You'll definitely need a car as it's about an hours drive from the airport and the house is 10 minutes out of town. I didn't really do much but rest and eat seafood tacos, but there are things to do there like pickleball and ATV riding, fishing and kite surfing, but again, I was there to rest and recharge. Nancy and Jerry were lovely hosts. So if you are looking for a quiet retreat, I highly recommend their place.
Nancy and Jerry were perfect guests in our home and so easy to communicate with. They left everything as they found it and even put up with the wifi that failed while they were there. We wouldn’t hesitate to welcome them again to our casa in the sun.
We completed our end of the exchange at Angie and Bob’s home last week and it was perfect! Their home was comfortable and well equipped in a lovely community where we walked to the beach, strolled to dinner, lounged by the pool, and played pickleball. Communication was a breeze and I was quick to let Angie know we’d exchange again with them in a heartbeat! Thanks to them for a fantastic stay in Loreto :)
Angie and Bob were the ideal exchangers. Except for the happy sunflowers waiting for me when I arrived home, I wouldn't even have known they were here. The entire exchange was easy and smooth with fantastic communication. They were a great couple to help us continue the early stages of exchanging. Thanks Angie and Bob!
Ilana was the perfect person to help us navigate our first exchange. Super helpful and knowledgeable of the process, but even better, she’s friendly, kind and took great care of our casita!
