This view is only 2 blocks outside our back door! Perfect for walking a drink over at night to see ... Anywhere from 4-6 bikes ready to roll at all times! Small back yard/deck with grill....Sunroom can be screened in or closed all the way with separate AC ... Out our bike door, the beach is just behind the white building...and I am standing on the bike path ... Beautiful water view restaurants just minutes walking out our front door. Two big malls within 20 min drive Ocean Breeze Waterpark at the oceanfront....also there is a wonderful aquarium museum. In our adjoi ... Cinema Cafe is about 13 min car ride from our house...watch cheap movies and eat/drink in comfy chai ... Catch a game in the spring/summer months!

General overview

Our home is a large ranch on a wonderful street. The LOCATION cannot be beat! It is in walking distance of 22 bars and restaurants, the bay/beach (public access) is two blocks out our back door, and our 8 mile state park bike path runs literally through our backyard. We have 5 bikes ready to use. We are in a court so there is very little through-traffic, however you will see some bikers and pedestrians headed to the beautiful docks and restaurants, just blocks out our front door. We moved here to live an active AND leisure life after we became empty nesters!

The space

Our house has 3 bedrooms, a large living room/dining room combo, small den (TV's in both), and a sunroom w/a big table for lots of fun. (Games included). We also have a small backyard w/a shed with plenty of beach chairs and room to play outdoor games, which we have a lot, a grill, outdoor seating, etc. We do have TWO cats that will be at the house and have to be fed. One stays outside almost the whole time (can go in and out) and one you will never see, she just hides. Our dog will be at a doggie daycare :-)

Guest access

There is a driveway that goes straight to the front door and 4 steps you have to go up to be on the front porch and then a ledge to step over to enter the house.

Notes

There is SO much to do for activity, whether going to the beach, riding bikes, walking the beautiful bridge over the bay (5 min walk from our house), walking different trails to walk/bike even when the weather isn't warm enough for the beach (May-Sept are pretty good months for swimming/beach days). Our city also has so much to offer, from a 3-mile boardwalk at the main oceanfront, to baseball/hockey teams for sports, lots of breweries, malls, cafes, concerts all summer, basically anything you are looking for!

Neighbourhood

Everything you need is within walking distance! Whether you are craving seafood, Mexican food, pizza, Chinese, you are covered! There is a small park behind our house and the beach is one block behind that. Every Saturday there is a Farmer's Market two blocks away if you want fresh veggies or fun gifts and even a Fishing Market within 5 mins of walking for fresh fish. We live in the middle of a lot of activity but our street is actually really quiet since it has a cul-de-sac at the end. There is a cut-through for bikers and pedestrians heading to the restaurants and if you sit out front, you will see everyone is so friendly and it's actually really nice.

Getting to my home

Uber can pick up from airport. There is also a trolley that comes by our home during the warmer months that you can hop on to go to the main beach front w/shops and a 3 mile-long boardwalk. We have a car you can use as well. But almost ALL the bars/restaurants are within one mile of our home on either side.

Nearest airport

The Norfolk (ORF) airport is 9 miles away.

Getting around

We have a car for our guests to use if needed. Also tons of bikes.

Hi! My name is Susan and my husband of 30 years is named Ross. I am an elementary school librarian and my husband is in dental sales. I plan to retire in 2026 so at this time, we only can travel during school vacations and at this time I am looking for a globe. We will usually travel just the two of us but might be lucky enough to have any of our 3 adult "children" join us if they could get the time off work. We moved last summer to a home by the bay and truly feel like we are on vacation every day. There are 22 restaurants and bars around our home (most in WALKING distance) but we also have 6 bikes to ride to any as well. There is just so much to do, all sorts of activity right out the front (and back) door! We are excited to share our home and also explore more places!
