General overview

We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found our apartment in the difficult Barcelona housing market and we look forward to sharing it! We have a spacious, sunny apartment that we are always reluctant to leave and happy to return to after traveling. We face south and get amazing afternoon sun. We signed up in order to take a "sabbatical" of sorts back in the US without giving up our amazing apartment -- our ideal situation would be a long-term reciprocal exchange (in RI / southern MA), but are open to other arrangements.

The space

In central Barcelona, it can be difficult to find proper master bedrooms (from an American point of view at least), and we are lucky to boast two rooms large enough to fit a queen bed comfortably. Our kids' room has a childrens' bed, a crib (convertible to a small childrens' bed) and a changing table. We also have an additional port-a-crib. We have a fourth room configured with a working area (including ultrawide monitor) as well as a couch that pulls out to an additional bed. Finally, there is a room that was marketed to us as a fifth bedroom but we have configured as a pantry (we believe it used to be the servants' quarters). There are two full bathrooms in the night area (not ensuite), one with a shower and dual sinks and the other with a shower-bath. There is also a half-bath off the pantry. The living/dining room is configured in an open layout. We can comfortably seat 6 in the TV area. The dining table isn't huge but can fit four adults with two kids. We have a high-chair as well as a clip-on baby chair. We also have a full-size, fully-weighted electric piano. There is a small terrace overlooking the street, with two chairs and a table, great for taking an evening drink or watching the cars, trucks, and buses with the kids. In the back there is another terrace with a washing machine (drying machine is just inside). We have a 4-point multi-split AC/heating system that covers the two large bedrooms, the kids' room, and the living/dining room (which also has a ceiling fan), as well as a portable electric heater/fan for other spaces. We have a cable subscription (Movistar) with wifi throughout the apartment aided by a repeater, with TVs in the living room (with a PS4) and master bedroom. We also have a Sonos multi-room speaker system across several rooms. We have a good number of toys (5 and under mainly), books (kids and adult), and board games (kids and adult), a play-pen, a balance bike and a toddler "bike", among other kids' amenities. Last but not least, we have a well-equipped kitchen, with anything you might need. We're proud of our home and we're sure you will love it too!

Neighbourhood

We are in Les Corts, just off Avinguda Diagonal near the Francesc Macià traffic circle which means we are near the edge of Eixample as well as Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. This is a quiet, upscale, residential area with many families and few tourists. It's fairly central -- you can get to Plaça Catalunya in 15 minutes on public transport or 40 minutes on foot, with plenty of other attractions closer. In the immediate area there is a park with a playground just across the street and several other parks and playgrounds within a 2-3 block radius and Turó Parc is a short walk away (600 meters). All your needs are close-by, including fruit and vegetable store (20 meters), café (20 m) fish store (20 m), butcher (100 m), supermarket (130 m), wine and cheese specialty shop (180 m), and more. We are also 450 meters from the L'Illa shopping mall, one of the nicest in the city. Besides that there are probably hundreds of restaurants within a ten-minute walk including multiple Michelin-starred establishments. Historic Les Corts (the area around Plaça de la Concòrdia) is a ten-minute walk away, and a great way to experience neighborhood life as an alternative to heading into the city center. The neighborhood has a packed calendar of festivals and events in all seasons, for local holidays, neighborhood fairs, regular artesanal markets, and other occasions. We are an easy taxi ride from the airport (25-30 Euros), easily walkable from Sants Station, nearby the tram line, and although there is no nearby metro stop it is easy to get anywhere in the city by bus or transferring for longer trips. We've come to love our local neighborhood, the larger district of the city, and of course Barcelona as a whole. Whether you're interested in being a tourist or just living like a local, our apartment makes a perfect home base.

Getting to my home

From the airport: taxi recommended, but you can take the metro then bus to save 20 Euros but not worth it for the extra time and hassle, in our opinion, even though we are fairly frugal. From Sants: if we don't have bags, we usually walk, with luggage, a taxi.

Getting around

Walk, city bike (you can borrow my pass), public transport... many options!

Henry

We are a couple in our thirties with two boys, currently 4 and 1. We are Americans living in Barcelona since 2019. We love the idea of finding a similar family to us, letting them take advantage of our wonderful home and wonderful location in order to experience other places ourselves.
