General Overview

Welcome to your home away from home! *we are pretty flexible- please reach out even if our calendar is not green* Our cozy retreat sits on 3 peaceful acres where every day feels like a vacation. Families will love the wide-open space to play and unwind, while those seeking quiet can curl up in a hammock or enjoy the calm of nature all around. We’re perfectly placed for adventure — under an hour from the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, ski resorts, disc golf courses, golf, pickle-ball, and tennis courts. Love the water? Several lakes are nearby for kayaking (we provide kayaks!) along with endless hiking and camping opportunities to explore. And when you don’t feel like cooking or driving far, you’ll find everything you need just outside the neighborhood. From family-friendly restaurants and grocery stores to easy take-out and delivery options, convenience is at your doorstep. Whether you’re looking for outdoor fun, a relaxing getaway, or simply an easy place to enjoy time together, our home offers the best of both worlds — tranquility on the property and quick access to town. More about our town: Winston-Salem, North Carolina Winston-Salem is a vibrant city in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont region, known for its welcoming Southern charm, cultural depth, and easy access to both mountains and lakes. Often called the “City of Arts and Innovation,” Winston-Salem blends a rich history with a thriving modern scene, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and anyone looking to relax while still having plenty to do. Culture, Arts & History: The city has deep historical roots as the home of the early Moravian settlers, which you can experience in Old Salem Museums & Gardens — a living history site where cobblestone streets, costumed interpreters, and traditional bakeries bring the 18th century to life. Winston-Salem is also known for its thriving arts community. The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, and numerous local galleries highlight the creative spirit that earned the city its “arts” nickname. Festivals like the National Black Theatre Festival and RiverRun International Film Festival bring global culture to the region year-round. Food & Drink: Winston-Salem is a rising star in North Carolina’s food scene, with an impressive range of restaurants — from classic Southern comfort food to international cuisines. The downtown area is dotted with farm-to-table bistros, family-friendly eateries, craft breweries, and wine bars. Local favorites include Moravian cookies and Krispy Kreme doughnuts, both of which originated here. For adults, the nearby Yadkin Valley Wine Country offers dozens of award-winning vineyards, perfect for day trips. Outdoor Adventures: Nature lovers will appreciate Winston-Salem’s prime location. The Blue Ridge Mountains are less than an hour’s drive, offering hiking, camping, and breathtaking views along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Closer to town, you’ll find lakes and rivers perfect for kayaking, fishing, and paddleboarding, along with golf courses, tennis courts, and parks for every interest. Families can spend the day at Hanging Rock State Park or Pilot Mountain State Park, both just a short drive away, known for scenic trails, waterfalls, and outdoor recreation. Family Fun & Everyday Ease: For families, Winston-Salem has plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained, including SciWorks Science Center, Kaleideum Downtown (children’s museum), and the North Carolina Zoo less than an hour away. At the same time, the city is incredibly convenient — grocery stores, shopping centers, and delivery services make day-to-day life easy for travelers who want a mix of comfort and exploration. Why Visit? Winston-Salem offers the best of both worlds: the peaceful, laid-back pace of the Piedmont countryside combined with the culture, dining, and entertainment of a lively city. Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure, arts and history, or just a comfortable place to slow down and recharge, Winston-Salem is a hidden gem that makes visitors feel right at home.

The Space

Our home is designed for both comfort and connection. With 4 large bedrooms, with their own en-suite bathrooms, everyone enjoys privacy and plenty of space to unwind. The basement offers even more room with comfy couches, a big-screen TV, Wii, toys, and games — perfect for kids or family movie nights. Step outside and you’ll find something for everyone. Relax in the hot tub, gather around the fire pit, or watch the game on the outdoor TV from the shaded patio. Multiple decks provide plenty of spots to dine, lounge, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings. The backyard is built for fun — with a trampoline, zipline, badminton, cornhole, soccer balls, and more — while the wooded acre behind the house is ideal for a quiet walk or hammock time. Whether you’re grilling dinner, sharing a meal at the large picnic table, or just enjoying the mountain air, our home makes it easy to feel like you’re on vacation every day. And when you’re ready to explore, restaurants, grocery stores, and delivery options are just minutes away.

Guest Access

Access to the home is by keypad. Parking is easy and plentiful.

Notes

We have 2 indoor-outdoor cats. They are super low-maintenance; use a cat door and do not use a litter box. Depending on the length of stay, they might need clean water and food, and perhaps occasional love if they feel like it.

Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood is very relaxed. You will often see deer in the backyard and in the street. Our street ends in a cul-de-sac and with only 19 homes, it is very peaceful and friendly, but right in town and only minutes away from gas, grocery stores, etc. About 15 mins from our sweet little buzzing downtown, the Arts district and the Innovation Quarter.

Getting to my home

Finding us is pretty easy! The gps will bring you right to our driveway with no difficulty. Winston-Salem is about an hour northeast of Charlotte, 2 hrs east of the famous & gorgeous Asheville, 2 hrs west of Raleigh-Durham and in what is called the NC Triad- forming a triangle with Greensboro and High Point. We are less than 20 mins from major highways, including I40, US52 & I285. Getting around is easy & traffic is very mild.

Nearest airport

GSO Greensboro 40 minutes CLT Charlotte Douglas 1.5 hrs RDU Raleigh-Durham 1.5 hrs

Getting Around

We have plenty of affordable ubers available out this way, but no public transport nearby. Having a vehicle will be your best bet. We can potentially swap vehicles if needed.
