Our cozy retreat sits on 3 peaceful acres where every day feels like a vacation. Families will love the wide-open space to play and unwind, while those seeking quiet can curl up in a hammock or enjoy the calm of nature all around. We’re perfectly placed for adventure — under an hour from the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, ski resorts, disc golf courses, golf, pickle-ball, and tennis courts.
Love the water? Several lakes are nearby for kayaking (we provide kayaks!) along with endless hiking and camping opportunities to explore. And when you don’t feel like cooking or driving far, you’ll find everything you need just outside the neighborhood. From family-friendly restaurants and grocery stores to easy take-out and delivery options, convenience is at your doorstep.
Whether you’re looking for outdoor fun, a relaxing getaway, or simply an easy place to enjoy time together, our home offers the best of both worlds — tranquility on the property and quick access to town.

The Space
Our home is designed for both comfort and connection. With 4 large bedrooms, with their own en-suite bathrooms, everyone enjoys privacy and plenty of space to unwind. The basement offers even more room with comfy couches, a big-screen TV, Wii, toys, and games — perfect for kids or family movie nights.
Step outside and you’ll find something for everyone. Relax in the hot tub, gather around the fire pit, or watch the game on the outdoor TV from the shaded patio. Multiple decks provide plenty of spots to dine, lounge, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings.
The backyard is built for fun — with a trampoline, zipline, badminton, cornhole, soccer balls, and more — while the wooded acre behind the house is ideal for a quiet walk or hammock time.
Whether you’re grilling dinner, sharing a meal at the large picnic table, or just enjoying the mountain air, our home makes it easy to feel like you’re on vacation every day. And when you’re ready to explore, restaurants, grocery stores, and delivery options are just minutes away.

Access to the home is by keypad. Parking is easy and plentiful.
Notes
We have 2 indoor-outdoor cats. They are super low-maintenance; use a cat door and do not use a litter box. Depending on the length of stay, they might need clean water and food, and perhaps occasional love if they feel like it.

Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood is very relaxed. You will often see deer in the backyard and in the street. Our street ends in a cul-de-sac and with only 19 homes, it is very peaceful and friendly, but right in town and only minutes away from gas, grocery stores, etc. About 15 mins from our sweet little buzzing downtown, the Arts district and the Innovation Quarter.
Getting to my home
Finding us is pretty easy! The gps will bring you right to our driveway with no difficulty. Winston-Salem is about an hour northeast of Charlotte, 2 hrs east of the famous & gorgeous Asheville, 2 hrs west of Raleigh-Durham and in what is called the NC Triad- forming a triangle with Greensboro and High Point. We are less than 20 mins from major highways, including I40, US52 & I285. Getting around is easy & traffic is very mild.

Getting Around
We have plenty of affordable ubers available out this way, but no public transport nearby. Having a vehicle will be your best bet. We can potentially swap vehicles if needed.

We just got home from the most magical two weeks at Liezel’s home in North Carolina, and I’m still feeling deeply nourished by the experience. From the moment we arrived, her home felt welcoming, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up for both adventure and rest. We packed our days with exploring: hiking to waterfalls, sledding and tubing in the mountains, ice skating, zip lining, visiting a living heritage museum, the science museum, and the zoo. And every evening, we loved coming back “home” to unwind: sitting by the fire, soaking in the hot tub, and enjoying the cozy, beautiful space surrounded by nature. Some of our favorite moments were actually the quieter ones; slow mornings, relaxed afternoons at the house, and evenings spent reconnecting as a family. The balance between adventure and rest was perfect. Liezel was an exceptional host. She was incredibly welcoming, generous with local tips, and consistently easy and thoughtful in her communication. You can feel how much care she puts into her home; everything is intuitive, comfortable, and designed for real living, not just staying. It’s easy to see why others love this home so much: the serene setting, the sense of privacy, the joy-filled spaces indoors and out. This wasn’t just a place to stay, it was a place to truly be. We’re so grateful for the experience and would wholeheartedly recommend an exchange with Liezel to anyone looking for a trip that feels both grounding and special. We had the most wonderful exchange at Liezel’s home. It is the most beautiful home surrounded by gorgeous trees, Especially in October. We had everything we needed to feel comfortable and at home. Before this exchange, I was considering canceling my PLU membership, but my exchange with Liezel changed my mind. She warmly welcomed us, and was the most gracious host. It inspired me to continue opening up my primary residence for exchanges. I would highly recommend her home to anyone. -
Liezel’s home was a peaceful and joy-filled stop on our cross-country travels to Canada this June. From the moment we arrived, we felt at ease. The home is beautifully maintained, spacious, and thoughtfully set up for quality family time. One of my favorite spots was the serene blue room with the comfy white couch and bright windows — a quiet retreat I looked forward to each day. I spent most evenings in the hammock while the kids enjoyed the trampoline, relaxed in the hot tub, and ran around the yard watching deer and wild turkeys pass by. We also loved picking fresh blueberries right on the property — such a treat! The music room brought us all joy, and the kids had a blast playing the Wii during downtime. We also used the cozy basement area for homeschooling and arts and crafts — it was the perfect setup to keep learning and creativity flowing during our travels. Although the house feels tucked away in a peaceful and private area, it’s conveniently located within 10 minutes of city stores and anything else we needed. The neighborhood felt very safe and quiet, which was so important to us. We’re so grateful to Liezel and her family for opening their home to us. It was more than just a place to stay — it was a space to rest, connect, and make memories. Liezel's home was the perfect home base for our 4th of July cousin-meet up. The house is incredibly spacious and had plenty of room (and toys!) for our 7 kiddos (so. many. kids). Our older kids loved the en-suite bathrooms (priorities) and the littles were all about their basement "apartment". Everything in the house is organized, labeled, and very intuitive to use. But as perfect as the house is, it pales in comparison to the yard! Y'all, if you're outdoor people like we are, do not sleep on this swap! Our kids spent almost every waking moment in the gaga ball bit, on the zip line, exploring the trail around the property, picking blueberries, jumping on the trampoline, challenging the adults to a giant kickball game...it was straight from a 90's coming-to-age movie. And all the outdoor time gave the adults lots of opportunities to make use of the many outdoor seating areas, fire pit, and sunset patio. When not at the house we enjoyed river tubing and swimming at the nearby Hanging Rock State Park, but honestly, there was so much to do at the house that we stayed hunkered for most of the trip. We're very grateful to Liezel and her family for giving us the chance to make memories with our family in such a beautiful space.
