More about our town: Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Winston-Salem is a vibrant city in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont region, known for its welcoming Southern charm, cultural depth, and easy access to both mountains and lakes. Often called the “City of Arts and Innovation,” Winston-Salem blends a rich history with a thriving modern scene, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and anyone looking to relax while still having plenty to do.
Culture, Arts & History: The city has deep historical roots as the home of the early Moravian settlers, which you can experience in Old Salem Museums & Gardens — a living history site where cobblestone streets, costumed interpreters, and traditional bakeries bring the 18th century to life. Winston-Salem is also known for its thriving arts community. The Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, Reynolda House Museum of American Art, and numerous local galleries highlight the creative spirit that earned the city its “arts” nickname. Festivals like the National Black Theatre Festival and RiverRun International Film Festival bring global culture to the region year-round.
Food & Drink: Winston-Salem is a rising star in North Carolina’s food scene, with an impressive range of restaurants — from classic Southern comfort food to international cuisines. The downtown area is dotted with farm-to-table bistros, family-friendly eateries, craft breweries, and wine bars. Local favorites include Moravian cookies and Krispy Kreme doughnuts, both of which originated here. For adults, the nearby Yadkin Valley Wine Country offers dozens of award-winning vineyards, perfect for day trips.
Outdoor Adventures: Nature lovers will appreciate Winston-Salem’s prime location. The Blue Ridge Mountains are less than an hour’s drive, offering hiking, camping, and breathtaking views along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Closer to town, you’ll find lakes and rivers perfect for kayaking, fishing, and paddleboarding, along with golf courses, tennis courts, and parks for every interest. Families can spend the day at Hanging Rock State Park or Pilot Mountain State Park, both just a short drive away, known for scenic trails, waterfalls, and outdoor recreation.
Family Fun & Everyday Ease: For families, Winston-Salem has plenty of attractions to keep everyone entertained, including SciWorks Science Center, Kaleideum Downtown (children’s museum), and the North Carolina Zoo less than an hour away. At the same time, the city is incredibly convenient — grocery stores, shopping centers, and delivery services make day-to-day life easy for travelers who want a mix of comfort and exploration.
Why Visit?

Notes
We have 2 indoor-outdoor cats. They are super low-maintenance; use a cat door and do not use a litter box. Depending on the length of stay, they might need clean water and food, and perhaps occasional love if they feel like it.

Our street ends in a cul-de-sac and with only 19 homes, it is very peaceful and friendly, but right in town and only minutes away from gas, grocery stores, etc. About 15 mins from our sweet little buzzing downtown, the Arts district and the Innovation Quarter.
