General overview
The nature surrounding our home gives a calm when we walk in. We love looking out the windows at the forest behind. Today it is snowing and the trees are magical! Even though we're a townhouse, we feel like it's a stand-alone home. We have three bedrooms, one and a half bathrooms, a reading nook, as well as the usual. We couldn't imagine living anywhere else. North Vancouver is central to Vancouver proper, the Fraser Valley, and the Sea to Sky region (Whistler, Pemberton, Squamish).
The space
We have a lovely sitting area on the patio behind our home where you can view the forest behind. We also have a covered front porch sitting area where you can look at the lovely garden. Inside are 3 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have a queen bed, the third bedroom has a day bed with a trundle bed underneath, that pulls out. We use these two beds for grandchildren. The master bedroom has an adjustable zero gravity bed.
There is a full bathroom upstairs that everyone shares, which includes a soaker bathtub and shower combination. There is also a half bathroom on the main living level.
Upstairs is an alcove in the hallway overlooking the front entrance. This alcove is a reading nook.
All furniture is very comfortable. We'd rather not have pets as the furniture is very light in colour.
We love our space. It is peaceful here as we are the last unit in a townhouse complex. There is no-one on three sides of us.
Guest access
Our townhouse is two floors and has two driveways. When you enter our home, you go down 7 stairs to the main living area, or up 7 stairs to the bedrooms and main bathroom. The downstairs is ground level as the land slopes.
Notes
We live in a townhouse complex that has a barn, a swimming pool and a pickleball court. The site is 16 acres and has 82 units. The swimming pool is outdoors, heated, and is usually open mid May until mid September.
The barn has approximately 25 horses in it. As we are downwind from it, it's rare to smell the horses. I've taken my grandchildren many times to see the horses. If you want to see the horses, just ask the new owner and if they're not busy, it should not be any problem.
We have a forest, Hunter Park, right behind our home. Access is on the road into the complex, left past about 3-4 houses, but we often just go in through the backyard. Hunter Park is beautiful, as if you are in a nature wonderland! I love to walk the trails. There is a protected duck pond and you can see the newborn duckies in the spring, often running out and crossing the trail. There is also Hastings Creek. It is such a great place for a quick walk.

Neighbourhood
Within a 15 minute walk is Lynn Valley Shopping Centre. There are banks, two supermarkets, restaurants and a spattering of other businesses.
There are also trails galore! We have Lynn Headwaters Regional Park and the Seymour Demonstration Forest, a 5 minute drive up Lynn Valley Road where you can hike/walk for many kms. There is also Rice Lake and the Varley Trail in the same area. Rice Lake takes about an hour and is a beautiful walk around a lake that has a fishing pier on it. It is so peaceful, quiet and calm here. No dogs or bicycles are allowed around Rice Lake, but are allowed around Varley Trail.
Greater Vancouver is a 20 minute drive, 12 minute Seabus ride away. From the Seabus at Waterfront Station, you can take the Expo Line train to parts of Vancouver, and the Canada Line train to other parts of Vancouver on the way to the airport in Richmond.
Vancouver has so much to offer! You can see the artists on Granville Island, take in a show at Canada Place, walk many parks such as Stanley Park, Hunter Park, Lynn Headwaters Park and Capilano. There are beaches galore including Ambleside, Jericho, Kitsilano, and Spanish Banks. You can see science at Science World, or visit the Vancouver Art Gallery. Of course there is skiing, and sailing, all in the same day if you like, 15 minutes apart from each other. It's a fabulous place to live or visit!
Getting to my home
Greater Vancouver is a transportation hub in Canada. There are many domestic and international flights from all over Canada and the world. There is a train, Canada Line, from the airport which takes you all the way to Waterfront (where the cruise ships are). From there you can take the Seabus, a magical trip across the harbour to North Vancouver, where we live. You can also take the Expo Line within Waterfront Station to take the train to other parts of Vancouver and New Westminster. At the Seabus terminal in North Vancouver, you can either take a taxi to our home, or a bus to 3 blocks from where we live.
Nearest airport
Vancouver Internatioinal Airport is approximately 30 kms away from North Vancouver. It takes about 35-45 minutes to drive it. The Canada Line train takes 25 minutes to reach Waterfront Station where the Seabus is. The Seabus takes 12 minutes to cross the harbour. A bus from Waterfront Station to home takes about 20-30 minutes.
Getting around
A bus stop is 3 blocks from where we live. There is room to park here if you rent a car. We haven't yet enquired about the possibility of including our vehicle in the exchange. We would need to call our insurance company. Because we are seniors we have seniors insurance.

Bonnie
We are a relatively new couple, in our 70s, who likes to travel and have adventure! Life is to be lived. Alex says we are totally cool. We love to travel, anytime, almost anywhere! We do like warm though, so not sure if we're interested in a cold climate, unless we can be convinced.
Alex immigrated from Scotland to Canada in the mid 60s. He's had a varied life, working in the music industry, entertainment sound industry and finally, as an electrician. You'll notice our home is modernly electrified! Bonnie has worn many hats, as an administrative assistant in education and policing, a business owner (import/wholesale), a published writer, painter and energy healer. Between us, we have 5 children and 8 grand-children.
We love meeting people and visiting cultures unlike our own. The more we learn about others, the more we become adaptable and learn about ourselves.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
