Our home is a 3 bed cottage just on the outskirts of the lake district national park. It is also close to the Yorkshire dales national park. We love the fact that our home is really cosy and warm, in a friendly village with so many things to do within driving distance. We love nature and the outdoors and feel very close to it living where we do.
The Lake District is great for walking/hiking, paddle boarding, swimming and climbing or bouldering.
The space
3 Bedrooms, all upstairs. 2 double rooms and 1 with a junior bed (this is slightly shorter than a single- sizes are given in the photograph details). The junior bed also has a pull out bed, but we also provide a full size single blow up mattress if needed.
The main bathroom is upstairs with bath and toilet. The shower room is downstairs.
Living spaces downstairs are open plan. The living room features a cozy open fire.
There is space for 2 or 3 cars in our driveway, it is recommended that you rent a car as the Lake District is quite spaced out so to get to the different lakes and areas requires driving. We do have a bus stop close by which goes into the central part of the Lake District but this is slow because it stops everywhere along the way.
If you are a climber and are coming to the area for climbing, our bookshelves are full of bouldering and climbing guides for the local area and have bouldering pads you can use. We also have a training wall in our garage which if you wanted access to, could be arranged. Aerial hoop and silks training equipment is also available in this space.
For those travelling with children, our house is equipped with baby gates, toys, games, tree house and slide in the garden and high chairs.
Guest access
The cottage is over 2 floors but all bedrooms upstairs.
Notes
We have a cleaner that can come at the end of your stay, she is very reasonable so if you would like to fully relax and not have to clean on your departure we can arrange for her to come.
We do have a lovely whippet, if you are a pet lover and would like to have her during your stay please get in touch to discuss.

Neighbourhood
We are located in an area called South lakes, just on the outskirts of the Lake District on the south side. We moved out here to be more accessible to the motorway and escape the tourist traffic.
There is lots to do in this area and the Yorkshire dales national park is accessible from here too. It takes 25-30 mins to drive from our house to Windermere (one of the most popular places to visit in the lakes), 10 mins to Kendal, 40 mins to Coniston (although during peak season these times will vary due to roads being narrow and not coping so well with increased traffic)
But if you choose not to venture into the central lakes, there are walks from our home across the flats towards a bay and to viewpoints just behind our house where you can see the lakes and Morecambe bay.
Getting to my home
Our home is approx 1.5 hrs from Manchester Airport or Liverpool airport. You can also travel to Leeds airport.
Nearest airport
Manchester Airport- 75 miles
Getting around
It is advisable to hire a car to be able to access all the area has to offer. The village we live in is small, but in the next town there are a few small shops. All major supermarkets are located 10 mins away in Kendal.

Our sweet gentle dog Darcy, who can remain at the house for anyone who would like her to. We always have other arrangements for her so it's not assumed that guests will look after her. It is by arrangement only.
15 min walk from our house. Lovely coffee shop here
