Neighbourhood
Beaune is a cosmopolitan city with 2 million tourists every year, so it's easy to get by even if you don't speak French.
We decided to come and live in Beaune in 2019, after an international career and have not regretted it for a second since.
What we appreciate most:
- walking distance from our house to taste French gastronomy and wine tasting,
- hiking or cycling in the beautiful countryside of green hills dotted with vineyards and medieval villages,
- visit the glorious architectural heritage of the region which dates back to Roman times (museums of the city of Dijon, castles, medieval villages and monasteries...)
- Relax in nearby national parks
- discover Europe as we are: 3 hours from Paris and its Olympic Games, 2 hours from Switzerland, 3 hours from Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, the south of France or the Alps. All connected by train or good quality motorways.
Getting to my home
Road or rail are best. We are connected to Paris or Geneva airport
Nearest airport
Paris and Geneva airports (250 km, connected by train)
Getting Around
WALKING DISTANCE (5-10 min): over 50 restaurants and wine tastings, cooking classes and wine tastings, farmer's market on Saturday mornings, museums, theater, cinema, bowling, shopping, pool, spas, supermarket.
BY BIKE: visits to the vineyards and the castles and villages of Pommard, Aloxe-Corton, Meursault, Clos-Vougeot etc; hundreds of kilometres of hiking and cycling trails
BY CAR OR TRAIN (1/2 hour to 1 hour):
- Dijon, regional capital (20 min by train): compact and pedestrian-friendly centre, lively streets, museums and architecture.
- Jura National Parks: breathtaking landscapes, lakes and inspiring hikes
- Morvan National Park: rolling hills, lakes and superb heritage sites dating back to the Roman and Celtic occupation.
