General overview
Come discover one of the best kept secrets of the Caribbean, the Emerald Isle of Montserrat. Take in the view of Isles Bay from our veranda or sit poolside and gaze at Madame Soufriere, the now quiet volcano. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk from the villa. Montserrat is known for its friendly people, safe community, natural beauty and its weeklong celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
Hiking? We have tons of trails to explore throughout the Centre Hills. Swimming, snorkeling, or scuba? Black sand beaches abound near by and local vendors offer kayaking and snorkel or scuba tours.
Dining? Local eateries are close by, beach bars and restaurants are within a short walk or quick drive. Interested in Montserrat’s story, you can visit the Volcanic Obsevatory, National Trust, Cultural Center, and tour the lost city of Plymouth.
Visits over St. Patrick’s Day promises festivals and special events across the island. Leading up to Christmas and New Year’s the island celebrates its Carnival and Calypso traditions.
The space
Waters Reach is a spacious home on a double lot located near Vue Point Hotel and Isles Bay Beach Bar. Our home has four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and air conditioning.
Two bedrooms are located on the main floor (king and two twin beds*) with two more bedrooms in a separate apartment downstairs (both have queen beds). The apartment includes a small kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, and a patio. A housekeeper visits the house weekly.
You’ll have access to wifi, tv, phone, and depending on the nature of the exchange, we have a car available for use. Our kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking gear, and we try to keep it ready with coffee, oil, spices, and flour and sugar.
*Upstairs the single beds in can be joined and made into a king size bed.
Guest access
Our home has stairs leading to the pool and the downstairs apartment but stairs can be minimized by accessing these areas from either the driveway or carport. Please note if you’re bringing children to visit, there is no access to the lower level apartments from inside the main floor of the house.
Notes
Laundry lines are provided under our carport so you needn’t scramble when a rain shower passes by.

Neighbourhood
You’ll find a lot of PLU’s on Montserrat. We all are here because we love the unspoiled nature, friendly people, vibrant culture, and safe surroundings. The island is described as “how the Carribean used to be.” You’ll find lots of walkers, hikers, and explorers. We’d be happy to give our neighbors a heads up that you’re visiting so that they can let you know what might be happening that week or month.
Getting to my home
Montserrat is a self-select destination. You have to want to be here because it is a bit of an undertaking to travel to our island! You’ll need to travel to Antigua and then either take a two hour ferry ride across to Montserrat, or a twenty minute flight on a seven seater, twin engine, propeller plane.
Many major airlines fly into Antigua from the UK, United States, and Canada. Smaller Caribbean airlines fly in from other islands or Latin America. The primary airline is FlyMontserrat.
Nearest airport
The airport (MNI) is eight miles from our home. Taxis can be arranged in advance or if you choose to rent a car, they can meet you at arrival or a taxi can be arranged to get you to Waters Reach.
Getting around
A car is helpful but not required when visiting Montserrat. We know people who walk to destinations, use the taxis, or hail one of the van drivers that travel the main road all day long for a small charge. Rental cars are available and discounts can be negotiated for long term bookings. We also have a car on island.
