General overview
Come to the "Pueblo Magico" Ajijic in the interior of Mexico. Experience the lively warm culture, arts and music.
Typical Mexican village. Encountered by the Spanish in 1531. Private art galleries, both Mexican and international restaurants, and the all-important central plaza. Hiking trails up the hill.
In the tropics but at 1,700 metres altitude, the weather is good all year round. Long shirt sleeves are needed in December and January, and as a northerner I find mid-April to mid-June to be a bit warm.
We have an hacienda-style home (built 1978) in the centre of the village. For a simultaneous swap, we can offer our guest bedroom with all the living areas - living room, well-equipped kitchen, all your own. Maybe a car too, but just for local travel please.
If you are in Europe, you can arrive for example for two weeks, we can meet you here and then we can leave for less than two weeks at your place. Or other?
There are also usually three short-term rental guests on the property in separate casitas. with whom you will share the gardens, pool and pool patio, and rooftop patio.
We are somewhat flexible with dates. It would be nice if your place is in western Europe, close to an airport accessible from Madrid, and in a town or city for walkability.
The space
You have a small but nice guest bedroom with a queen bed. You will privately have the grand living room, dining room for 8, and kitchen with another dining table.
The covered terrace, gardens, recreational pool, pool patio, and rooftop patio with lake and sunset views you will share with other guests.
The bathroom with shower is adjacent to your bedroom, not ensuite. It is very functional but is a bit dated. It needs a serious aesthetic renovation.
Although this house is a flat one-storey, the property is not accessible.
Guest access
Ground floor, but about 17 steps from the street and up through the front garden.
If you have your (or our) car, there is a double garage with a fob for automatic door. Ask about availability.
Notes
There are hiking trails in the "mountain" behind us.
There is a friendly terrier dog, but our housekeeper can look after his feeding and care.
The pool is solar-heated, buy may still be cool in December-January.
The water is safe to drink.
No kids - insufficient room and an un-fenced pool. No pets.
Weekly cleaning at no cost to you.
Restricted to guests with past PLU "home reviews".
We often book in advance, so you can talk us about 2025 and 2026.
Our calendar is not up-to-date, but this property is usually available for you from January to December.
We have two other listings, also in Ajijic. Talk to use about your choices.

Ramon and Zeny were perfect guests in our home. We had a once in a 100 year atmospheric river when they were here and they kept the storm drains clear. They looked after our home well! Thank you Ramon and Zeny!
We loved it. Comfortable, well-equipped. Snuggled into the forest. North Vancouver is a very nice neighborhood, and it was only a short trip to the Seabus to downtown Vancouver.
Ramon you and Zeny are a delightful couple. We really enjoyed meeting you before you left for Vancouver!
Bonnie and Alex were excellent, fun and enthusiastic guests. We spent a couple of days with them until we flew to their house.
