General overview
Our home is a mid terrace property with 4 bedrooms (3 double) 3 bathrooms, 2 well sized reception rooms, a large kitchen with dining area. We have street parking outside the house - some of which is permit parking, but we can provide visitor permits.
Our house has beautiful original features and is tastefully decorated but also cosy and warm. We have a weekly cleaner who helps us hugely and would still attend if required for stays of 2 weeks. Our home is very much lived in and so if you want something with absolutely no personal belongings out, we are not for you!
Locally we are walking distance to the city centre, the castle, the Hadrians Wall Path, Bitts Park and the Sands Centre. There are a large number of eateries, bars and independent shops in the city centre.
Slightly further afield we are a 30 minute drive from the Lake District National Park. The market town of Keswick is 40 mins away, several lakes are also around this distance. Kendal and Windermere are an hour away. Kendal and Penrith are easily accessed by train. Similarly the Pennine Way is within an hour. To the North we are a 20 minute drive from Gretna and 15 mins to the beginning of the Scottish Borders. In the summer, the beautiful beach at St Bees is just over an hour’s drive, there are smaller beaches within a 30 minute drive.
If you enjoy food, Cumbria is home to several Michelin star restaurants and eateries.
The football stadiums of Manchester City, Newcastle, Manchester United, Celtic and Rangers are all within 2 hours by public transport. Carlisle United is a 10 min walk. There are local tennis and basketball courts, a skate park and running track.
The space
Our house has a large hallway, 2 reception rooms and kitchen diner on the ground floor along with a utility room.
We have a courtyard garden at the back of the property. There is decking and loungers and you can sit out in the warmer months. The courtyard area is a real suntrap. We keep a car in the parking space in the courtyard.
On the first floor are the four bedrooms - three are double rooms with one bedroom having a super king sized bed, one bedroom having a king sized bed, one double bed and one single. The double bedroom and the single bedroom are separate spaces, but there is not a door between them (I can send pics for those interested). There are two bathrooms on this floor, one with a bath and one with a walk in shower.
The second floor has the third bathroom if needed which has a walk in shower and separate bath. Our 5th bedroom and office are located here but these areas will be locked.
Our house has very good WiFi, there are two televisions on the ground floor, one is used for gaming with a PS4. Three of the bedrooms have televisions in and one has a PS5 and Nintendo switch. There is surround sound system if you need it in the living room. We have several Alexa’s in the house. We have lots of board games/jigsaws and craft items. We don’t have toys for younger children.
Guest access
3 floors all accessed by wide and shallow stairs but not suitable for wheelchair use.
Notes
Our 2 cats will probably be at the property when you stay. We may ask you to feed them - they will be very happy mostly outdoors during your stay.

We are a fun, quiet family who enjoy spending time in our home and exploring our local area. My three children are aged 13, 11 and 9 and we also have a dog and two cats.
