A cute 1-bedroom apartment central-ish in Madrid (not in the city center, but nearby, well-connected by metro).
The space is bright and comfortable for a few people coming to Madrid to visit, to work, or just to hang out.
The terrace is a true luxury! Filled with beautiful plants, flowers, and even a hammock, it's a dream to lounge out there after spending the day in bustling, beautiful Madrid.
The apartment also has unique flooring, giving the space a cool, Spanish vibe.
Although it isn't huge, it's nice and cozy and even has a separate space for working.
The space
The apartment has an open living room, eating area, and kitchen where there is even a small balcony, so plenty of light comes in. Then there is a separate space that can be used for working (there is no door that separates this space, although it is apart from the main living space).
After that, there is 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and a large terrace (accessed through a door in the bedroom).
Technically, the space sleeps 4 people with 2 people in the bedroom and 2 people on the fold-out sofa bed, although it might be a bit cramped for so many people for more than just a few days.
More ideally suited for 2 people.
Guest access
The apartment is on the 1st floor of a small building with only a few apartments. You must go up 1 flight of stairs to get in.

Neighbourhood
Usera is known as Chinatown in Madrid with plenty of Asian and Spanish restaurants and supermarkets.
My favorite part of this neighborhood is being so close to the river. At only a 3-minute walk or 30-second bike ride, you can access the river path which can lead to beautiful green spaces in Madrid (Casa de Campo, Parque Linear de Manzanares, etc.).
Legazpi, the neighborhood right across the river, is a trendy place with tones of cute cafes, bars, restaurants, and even the super cool Matadero (Slaughterhouse turned cultural center).
From here, you can get to Sol (City center) in 20 minutes by metro.
Usera is safe, multicultural, and filled with life.
Nearest airport

Getting around
What I love most about Madrid is that it is so nice to walk around. I walk everywhere, even into the center (50-minute walk).
Otherwise, there are 2 metro lines nearby (one that goes straight through the center) or you can take Uber or taxis right outside the house.
I also have bikes that you can borrow.

Hi, I'm Jo! I'm Canadian, but have lived in Madrid, Spain for over 10 years. Although I used to love gallivanting much more, I now really love getting to explore new towns and cities in a slower way, hence home exchanges! Ideal as I work remotely.
