Northwestern Michigan was just selected as one of the top 10 most beautiful places in the world to visit in 2024 by CNN. National Geographic Explorer as called Northport the “quintessential summer sailing village”. ABC viewers have voted Leelenau County the most beautiful place in America on more than one occasion. Northport has about 600 residents, several art galleries, 6-8 restaurants, beaches, a dog park, a marina, a weekly farm market, a grocery store, a public library, several other village parks and hiking trails, and there is a beautifully landscaped golf course. Our house is the only house in town that borders it. Every thing in town is a 10 minute or less walk. You are allowed to drive golf carts in tow too. There is too much nearby to include here. There is even a marijuana store. Legal in Michigan

Neighbourhood
It is really quiet and peaceful. When the foliage is out you can’t see the house from the road or the neighbors. It is a real neighborhood.
Getting to my home
The airport is in Traverse City. Pickup may be possible. The whole county is popular with cyclists and they do come to Northport. There are buses from Traverse City too, but only during the day. There are many many miles of recreation trails in the county, but to walk here from the airport is a good 35 miles. People fly to Northport in their own plane an lots of people sail into bay.
Nearest airport
Commercial airport in Traverse 35 miles.
Getting around
Walk in Northport and drive or cycle to other nearby recreation and villages
Leroy and Betsy were wonderful hosts! They are so sweet and relaxed and were really fun to chat with when meeting in person. Their home is in such an amazing location to enjoy all of the things that northern Michigan has to offer. The home and furnishings are super fun, spunky, colorful, vibrant, and creative. Betsy is an artist and it shows! Everywhere you look from dishes to wall art shows her fun personality and talent. If you’re seeking plush beds, a microwave, or 5 star accommodations, this home is not for you. But if you’re looking to take in peaceful nature, build incredible fires in their gorgeous yard, enjoy the beautiful nature and crystal clear waters of Lake Michigan, create delicious meals with cast iron cookware, and browse fun local shops, you’re in luck! We’d happily exchange with Leroy and Betsy anytime!

Rena and her Family were great guests. They made themselves at home which is exactly what we hoped they would do. I recommend them whole heartedly. This was our first exchange and it was a non-reciprocal. I think it was only their second exchange. For a bunch of newbies figuring out PLU it all turned out just fine. Leroy and Betsy Winters
