General overview
Our home is located in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains in the beautiful Pacific Northwest of the US. Located on a one acre, fenced lot, our 1200 sq.ft. home isn't fancy but can provide a solid base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula and the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area. Our home is 3 bedrooms but one of the bedrooms is used by a 2 year old so it doesn't have a full bed - only a toddler bed. We also have a full-sized converted school bus that includes a fridge, stove, queen bed and kitchen/dining area. There's a sandpit in the back yard for the kids and a swing for relaxing in the yard. There's also a dining area in the garden as well as a firepit (fires are often banned in late summer due to wildfire risk).
Our town of Chimacum, Washington, nestled in the picturesque Olympic Peninsula, is a charming rural community that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, proximity to national parks and forests, easy access to the bustling Seattle metro area, and a short drive to historic Port Townsend.
Surrounded by lush greenery and pristine landscapes, Chimacum is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. The town is just a stone's throw away from Olympic National Park (1 hour to Hurricane Ridge - 2ish hours to the coast), where visitors can explore the diverse ecosystems of the Olympic Mountains, hike through old-growth rainforests, and marvel at the rugged Pacific coastline. There are 5 or so beaches on the Puget Sound within a 10-20 minute drive as well as a few nice lakes for swimming/recreating/hiking.
For those seeking the vibrancy of city life, Seattle is a scenic ferry ride or a comfortable drive away (1.25 hours away). You can also drive to Tacoma in an hour or to Olympia in about 1.25 hours.
Historic Port Townsend, known for its well-preserved Victorian architecture, is just a short 15 minute drive from Chimacum. Visitors can stroll along the waterfront, visit charming shops and restaurants, and explore the rich maritime and indigenous history of the area.
