General overview

Hello from our active and adventurous family of 4! Anton, Colette, Haven (13) and Ashton (10). We adore international travel and are inspired by nature and experiences within it. Our fav experiences so far are living on a scuba dive boat in Indonesia, riding camels near the Pyramids, shark cage diving with copper sharks in Cape Town, seeing a lion kill on safari in South Africa, and living in Hoi An Vietnam for 6 months. Plus we love hiking, skiing/snowboarding and backcountry camping in our incredible, mountainous backyard! They never cease to amaze and delight. We love the details we have put in our home inspired by nature. Our living room features custom wall paper from our favorite backcountry location Berg Lake near Mt Robson (Jasper, AB). Our home is very cozy, comfortable, uncluttered, bright and filled with plants. We are located very centrally near the river on the NW side of the city. We adore the neighbors, community, closeness to shops - and we have a kids playground and outdoor pool at the end of the street! 😍 Grocery access is just a 10 minute walk up the hill, as is the LRT train line to take you to the Stampede grounds, Calgary's new huge central library, downtown restaurants, parks or museums. Plus we are just off the main highway to jump on and whisk yourself to the mountains! in just 20 minutes you are out of the city!

The space

We love to cook so our kitchen is well stocked! Gas range, coffee maker, premium Vitamix blender, mix master... plus we have a gas bbq on our balcony. You'll find our couch super comfy with soft throw blankets and ottomans to put your feet up. Our wood burning fireplace is a cozy and ambient feature to use in the cold mornings or evenings. The master bedroom features a brand new mattress and duck down duvet. Plus a cozy fleece and sherpa blanket for extra cool nights. We have a piano to tinker on, a playroom containing toys, games, puzzles, gymnastics mats, yoga and weights equipment. Plus we have trampoline with patio lights that come on at night. The kids love it all season! Throw the sprinkler under it in the summer and the kids are set up for a water party or “jail” for water gun fights. Add a ball and watch a zillion games get invented. Need to work? We have an office for your use.

Guest access

At the front entrance you will find a small flight of stairs going up to the main floor (living space, kitchen, bathroom and two kids rooms. At the entrance is also a small flight of stairs going down to the master bedroom, office, master bathroom, laundry and playroom.

Notes

We have a beautiful grey and white hypoallergenic, low-shed cat named Emma (Siberian mixed with Blue Russian). We take her with us when we go camping or to our cottage. But let us know if you would like her with you as it may work out when we do our international trips! She is amazing with kids, and hilarious to play with. This breed is the "Golden Retriever" of the cat world. So think "cat-dog" and playful.

Neighbourhood

We are located within walking distance of the shops of Kensington - a popular area that features local cafes, markets, restaurants, boutiques and an escape room company. We also have an open green space with soccer nets, a kids playground and outdoor pool at the end of our street. It is very safe and our neighbors are fantastic! Very family friendly.

Getting to my home

Driving: Take the #1 highway into the city then turn into our neighborhood of Hillhurst. Airport - Calgary YYC then take a cab from the departures area, or an Uber from the arrivals level.

Calgary YYC is about a 25 minute taxi ride

Getting around

Uber is available in Calgary as are numerous taxi services. Car rental is available at the airport. There is also an Avis just up the hill at North Hill Mall. The shops of Kensington are a 10-15 minute walk. There are also great boutiques, restaurants and cafes on 19th street - a 5 minute walk. North Hill Mall features a Safeway for groceries, a Shoppers Drug Mart for health needs plus numerous mall amenities. It's a 10 minute walk up the hill from our home. The LRT train is also at North Hill Mall to take you most anywhere including our family Calgary Stampede grounds! Down the street from our home to your left are soccer fields, West Hillhurst Playground, and Bowview outdoor pool open in the summer months only.
