Neighbourhood
Chicago is a city of neighborhoods and this is one of the best. Just south of the central business district, within walking distance of major cultural institutions, bordered by Lake Michigan and parks. Home to Jazz Showcase and Buddy Guy’s Legends. Coffee shops, restaurants, bars, hair, nails, dry cleaner, small groceries for snacks and emergencies, pharmacists, a bookstore, a yarn store, 5 major grocery stores within a half mile. Mulitiplex cinema nearby. 5 universities have facilities in the South Loop. The main library for the Chicago Public Library is a few blocks away.
Varied population: families, singles, students, retired, multi-ethnic.
Getting Around
Chicago’s subway/elevated train lines.
Blue (to and from ORD) is one block away
Red (north and south) is two blocks away
Orange (to Midway), Pink (west), Brown (northwest), Green, south and west), Purple (to Evanston) - these all go around downtown and make it the Loop - are 3 blocks away.
Also on several bus lines and close to connections for others.
Apps for Uber, regular taxis, also taxi stand a block away.
