To the North is Port Macquarie, a short 20min drive. Port Macquarie is a lovely coastal regional town. It has pristine beaches, my personal favourite being Flyns beach. There is a coastal walk that takes you from the town centre to Tacking point at Lighthouse beach.
To the South is Bonny Hills, Camden Haven, Laurieton, all smaller coastal towns with beautifuly waterways.

Nearest airport

Port Macquarie  airport is 21km.

Getting Around

Supermarket, coffee shops and speciality shops are within 100m from the house.

There is a bus on Ocean drive (route 333) that goes from Kendall to Port Macquarie via lake Cathie.

To get around, it is best to have your own vehicle.

We could make our small Toyota Corolla available for overseas or interstate visitor on request.

We exchanged with Martha and Eugene for two nights, when we were on our way down the east coast of Australia. Everything went smoothly and we enjoyed our short pit-stop in Lake Cathie (spelled: "cat-eye", our learning) very much. Lake Cathie, south of Port Macquarie (within easy reach by car), has a wonderful coast and - just a few kms away - a great Koala conservation park. The young ladies in our group (19 and 20 yrs old) loved that visit most. Martha´s and Eugene´s house is just three minutes by foot from the huge white beach, and a coffee shop and Woolworth etc. are around the corner. Their house was spotless clean and had everything needed. The spa was a wonderful addition. Communication with Martha was easy and we can highly recommend exchanging with Martha and Eugene!

We have had a wonderful exchange with Martha and Eugene in their very comfortable home at Lake Cathie . It was perfectly situated for short trips around the area ,so pretty and relaxing . The home was a very clean and easy to relax in with everything we needed . Communication between Martha and Eugene was great and we were lucky to have met and exchange information for both our homes and places of interest.. If anyone has any interest in this beautiful area ,we would recommend this home as a great base ,thanks again to Martha and Eugene for the use of your lovely home Cheers Kay and John

Martha and Eugene's lovely home in Lake Cathie was really comfortable and convenient for my 8 night stay in May 2025. Loved the expansive kitchen with all the gadgets needed, and absolutely jealous of their beautifully designed main bathroom! The outdoor space is also great for enjoying the afternoon sunshine. The house has everything needed for a really relaxing holiday. A woolworths shopping centre, with cafes, eateries and the local Hotel is 100m walk away, so very convenient. No need to jump in the car and fight for car parks. The nearest beach is approx 250m walk away, perfect for a swim, surf, stroll or enjoy the lovely sunrises, if conditions are right. There are many great surf locations to choose from nearby or lakes and creeks for those wanting more sheltered waters to play in. The Port Macquarie Hastings to Manning region is great to explore with so many activities available. Thankyou so much Martha and Eugene, it has been a fantastic holiday and base to explore your part of the mid north coast of NSW.

Martha and Eugene were great hosts to us recently on a simultaneous exchange. Their house is very lovely, extremely functional and very well set up. It is very well located being close to the beach and lake where we kayaked with our extended family, whom we also were able to cycle on cycleways with. It's also very conveniently located to Woolies. Martha was very generous and enabled us to have our 2 little granddaughters for a sleepover. We all enjoyed the spa. Everything was perfect

We had a wonderful stay at Martha and Eugenes home in Lake Cathie! The house was exactly as described, very well located , great for sightseeing around the area. the bonus was the hot tub in the evenings after a long day out and about ! Also early morning walks ,just one block to the most amazing long beach . Communication with Martha was excellent , we are looking forward to welcoming Martha and Eugene to our home in Ireland in July .

We're Eugene and Martha. We love living in Lake Cathie, a beautiful part of the NSW coast.
We are not quite retired but have slowed down since leaving the big city (Sydney). We love exploring and enjoy the outdoors and the fresh air. 

We’re looking for short breaks around Australia, either driving distance or not too far from an airport. 

We usually have an overseas holiday every year too.

There’s so many place to visit and I’m always keen to go for an adventure.

We like to sample the local cuisine wherever we are. We're excited to be part of this global community. Fellow people like us will get to experience and appreciate Lake Cathie, this truly beautiful part of the world, and we will be able to visit other equally amazing and beautiful places.
