General overview
Our home is modern yet comfortable with all the living spaces upstairs so that life happens in the treetops. Designed by Michael, who co-owns a Twin Cities architecture firm, our home emphasizes light and open space. Surrounded by mature trees and gardens, we are set in a safe, residential neighborhood within walking distance of schools, stores and parks. Located three blocks from the Mississippi River, a mere 10 minutes from both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, it's a perfect base from which to explore the Twin Cities.
The space
The house is surrounded by gardens on all sides, with the living spaces located on the second level - living room, dining room, office area, kitchen & half bath, while the three bedrooms/two baths, and additional office are on the ground floor. There is a porch balcony with a grill off the dining area overlooking the garden. We have air conditioning and ceiling fans in virtually every room. There is a two-car detached garage on the alley along with ample street parking.

Neighbourhood
The neighborhood is a family-friendly, predominantly single-family residential area with parks, restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities within walking distance (a mile or so). We are surrounded by several small colleges including Macalester, St. Thomas and St. Catherine University. The University of Minnesota campus is 10 minutes away along Mississippi River Blvd.
Getting to my home
By car the house is 10 minutes from Interstate 94 and 35, and by plane we are 10 minutes from MSP airport. There is ample public transportation with many bus routes and light rail lines. And there are abundant, scenic bike paths throughout the cities.
Nearest airport
The house is 10 minutes from the Minneapolis/St Paul International Airport (MSP), but with virtually no airport noise.
