General overview
The entire upper floor of our guest house would be yours to enjoy. Multiple windows and skylights allow the light to pour in this architecturally unique space. Wood burning fireplace makes it cozy in the cooler months and a deck is nice to use during warmer months. Beautiful gardens and mature trees surround the property. We live in the main house directly next door.
The space
One bedroom with a queen sized bed. The sofa bed can accommodate one additional person.
The unique kitchen was formerly a greenhouse, so it’s surrounded entirely by windows. Brand new oven/stovetop, fridge and mini dishwasher.
Guest access
One flight of stairs required to access. There are hand rails installed.
Notes
We have pet allergies, so sadly no animals can be accommodated. And, we would prefer to exchange with low allergen homes without pets. We also require no-smoking on the premises.
We are currently updating and remodeling this home, so it will not be available for exchange until August 2024 (possibly a little earlier). I will update photos as soon as possible.
We plan to focus on mostly on shorter local exchanges for 2024. Washington, Oregon, California and British Columbia. But, we’re also happy to accept globes anytime or a non-sim with an international location for 2025. We have friends in Brisbane and family in Southern France that we like to visit. Europe/Australia/New Zealand are all the list. As well as any city that has a direct Alaska Airlines flight.

Neighbourhood
We are conveniently located between Winslow (vibrant small town on Bainbridge Island) and Poulsbo (Nordic inspired town on Kitsap Peninsula). Both towns are about a 10 minute drive. In our neighborhood, we especially enjoy sunset walks with water/mountain views. We also enjoy feeding the goats down the street. There is also a road end street with public water access within a 20 min walk/5 min drive.
Bainbridge Island offers many well maintained parks all within a 5-15 min drive from our home. The Grand Forest has many mixed-use trails for hiking/biking in the middle of the island. While other parks offer water access for beach walks or kayaking. Battle Point park has an abundance of pickleball courts and details the history of pickleball. It was created here on Bainbridge Island!
Downtown Winslow has several excellent choices of highly rated restaurants, cafes, and bakeries. There is also a fantastic free art museum (BIMA) and a kids museum. On Saturdays there is a farmers market. https://www.visitbainbridgeisland.org/
Getting to my home
Driving distance from Seattle/Tacoma airport is 74 miles (1 hr 20min drive) without taking a ferry.
Or, you may drive to Seattle (25 min drive) and take the Seattle-Bainbridge ferry (35 min) and drive 10 min from the ferry to our house. Ferries run approximately every 50 min and operate early am to late at night. They do get fairly busy in summer, so best to plan ahead for a longer wait on weekends and holidays.
There is a light rail that runs from the airport to downtown Seattle and you can walk on the ferry. Public transportation is a bit limited on Bainbridge Island, but there are buses that stop near our house (limited hours). If we are home, we could also arrange picking you up. However, a car is helpful in getting around the island and exploring the peninsula.
There are bike rentals near the ferry on Bainbridge too. We are about 6 miles from the ferry.
If you are coming from north of Seattle. The Edmonds-Kingston ferry is the best way to arrive. 30 min ferry ride and a 20 min drive.
Nearest airport
Seattle/Tacoma SeaTac Airport (SEA)
or Paine Field (PAE) in Everett, WA (a few direct flights to other states in the USA)
Getting around
A car is the best way to access our area.
There is some public transportation on the island (except for Sundays). From the ferry terminal on Bainbridge, it is easy to walk-on the ferry for a day trip to Seattle without a car. (35 minute ferry ride)
I can provide more details as needed.

Molly
We are a family of 3 who love to explore and travel as often as we can on school breaks. Molly works in elementary special education with a background in occupational therapy and James is a commercial airline pilot. Our son is 13 years old and enjoys ultimate frisbee, coding, computer and board games. We also get outdoors as a family and hike, swim, camp and downhill ski. We have previously lived in Scotland and Dubai.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Views at Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park (2 hour drive from our home) - wonderful hiking in the summer and downhill/nordic skiing in the winter.
