Comfortable 2-bedroom apartment featuring high ceilings and wood floors, a projector screen and great book collection. Our well-maintained building, a classic Manhattan Pre-War built in 1914, has a 24/7 doorman, elevator, laundry room, and a grocery store you can access from a secret entry in the basement! Adjacent to Columbia University, and a stone’s throw from all Manhattan has to offer.
The space
Bedroom 1: Primary bedroom, has a queen-sized bed with excellent mattress, a work desk, and more books.
Bedroom 2: Our daughter's bedroom, has a full-size bed on the floor (same excellent mattress as in the other bedroom), a small sofa, keyboard, books and toys.
Living Room: A round dining table comfortably seats 4, and an extra-long sofa can be opened up to be a queen-size bed or extra lounge space. Also includes a projector screen and projector that has all the streaming apps.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with pots, pans, appliances, etc. We prefer if you could keep vegetarian when using our pots, pans, utensils, etc.
Bathroom: Tub/Shower combo. Toilet, sink. Not fancy but has what you need, functional and clean!
Guest access
Building is fully elevator-accessible.

Neighbourhood
Morningside Heights is the neighborhood of Columbia University. There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Our building is located between 2 amazing parks - Morningside Park and Riverside Park. If the sun is shining you can walk down beautiful Riverside Park to the Upper West Side and beyond - museums, restaurants, performances, are all easy to get to. 10 blocks south of us is the northern edge of Central Park, too!
We are New Yorkers who love to take in everything our amazing city has to offer - walks, restaurants, performances, museums. We have endless recommendations and if you come we would be thrilled to share them with you!
Getting to my home
You don't need a car! Our place is well connected by public transport. The 1, A, B, C, D subway lines are all nearby to us, and they will get you anywhere you'd like to go in New York City! You can also use the M60 Bus which stops in front of our building and goes directly to LaGuardia Airport.
We also use CitiBike a lot - a great way to get around the city. There are plenty of bike stations and bike lanes.
Nearest airport
LaGuardia Airport is 30-60 min by M60 Bus (depends on traffic). JFK and Newark airports are 45-60 minutes by taxi.
Getting around
5-10 minute walk to neighborhood shops and restaurants.
20-30 minute walk or shorter subway/bus/bike ride to Upper West Side or beyond for many more restaurants, sights, etc...
We are a family of 3 from New York City - one architect, one literature professor, and one delightful 5-year old girl. We are equally enchanted with the vivaciousness of our urban life as we are with the quietness of the country, and regularly seek both out both at home and when we travel!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
