General overview
My freshly renovated and modernized home is in the small city of Whanganui on the west coast of the north island of New Zealand.
Whanganui is an art lovers dream with many galleries and artists open studios in March each year.
It is just a 1 1/2 hour drive from the mountain for skiing in the winter months and fabulous hikes all year round.
It’s also home to The Masters Games every second year, with athletes from all over converging for 2 weeks of masters grade sports.
There are fabulous river trips either on the restored paddle steamer Waimarie or the Wairua. Or under your own steam in canoes with a day trip or multi day adventure up the river.
Explore Paloma gardens, a NZ garden of national significance and Bason Gardens. Walk around the picturesque Victoria Lake and enjoy the winter gardens.
Sargent Gallery will be open again soon after a significant renovation. Learn about Whanganuis past at the museum or take a walking tour around the city Centre.
The space
Fully renovated with all the modern conveniences for everyday living, my two bedrooms each have king size beds. A third room is not currently set up but will be an office with a sofa bed or a single bed. There are two entertaining decks, one with outdoor lounge furniture and the other with an outdoor dining setting. There are barbeques for outdoor cooking and there will be a pizza oven (work in progress).
Guest access
Although on one level, access is not suitable for wheelchair users sorry.
Notes
There is also a spa pool. There is one set of golf clubs available to use and a two electric bikes.
I’m happy to look at vehicle swaps for simultaneous exchanges and when I’m out of the country.

I’m in my early 60s, retired and very new to home exchanging. However, I have had housesitters for up to six months on several occasions in my home and I have looked after houses and pets for others.
I also operated a very successful bnb through the Airbnb platform attaining Superhost status very quickly.
I am looking forward to traveling the world, living like a local and embracing the culture of my host nation. I would prefer longer exchanges (4-12 weeks) so I can realize this dream!
I’m happy to host solo travelers or a couple who may just need a night or two accommodation en-route to their next destination.
It will be just me traveling usually but maybe a couple of friends or my sister if I’m lucky enough for them to join me!
