General overview
Our little slice of heaven home is extremely private, situated on 300 acres with a private large lake.
What was once a hunting camp, we have transformed into our family home and refuge for humans and animals alike. We are completely submerged in nature and surrounded by the gifts of the natural world.
If you are looking to submerse yourself into nature
The space
Our main home is an open concept cabin, with a wall of glass and windows, overlooking our private lake. The view is stunning! We have a comfy sectional sofa for all to relax on while watching the sun rise and set over the lake. We have 2 tables for eating at, one inside and one outside on the large deck. Both tables have the capacity to seat 8 people.
The master bedroom with a king bed is on the ground floor and the loft has a queen and a single bed.
When we purchased the property a few years ago the cabin had no amenities. We have done ALOT of work to make to it function as a "normal" home. It now has running hot water, high speed satellite internet, a small bathroom, electricity (solar powered), heat (wood stove) and a full kitchen. It is still a work in progress and there are more upgrades and esthetics that we plan for the future. But for now anyone visiting may notice that some finishing touches are still ongoing.
Outside is a firepit, a wood burning sauna, a large deck overlooking the lake, as well as docks at the lakeside. There are endless opportunities relaxing as well as getting active by hiking, snow shoeing, skating, x-county skiing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and paddling boarding.
Within our lake there are several island to explore, picnic and even camp on. If you love nature the possibilities here are endless!
Guest access
If we are not here, our guests will have full access to the main cabin, the guest bunkie, the sauna, the private lake, our secret camping location, and the entire 300 acres.
If we are at home we also are open to having visitors in the Bunkie (guest house) in return for future exchanges and globes.
Notes
Once a hunt camp, now a refuge of peace for all; animals and humans. We are blessed to be surrounded with water, trees and silence. It's our mission to protect and conserve this piece of land and everyone who lives here. In doing so we have some rules in place for all that have the pleasure of visiting.
• This land belongs to the animals. We are merely guests. Please let’s all be good guests.
• No Animal Products are allowed on the property. All food must be vegan.
• Wildlife must not be disturbed. If you see wild animals send them love then quietly move away.
• Never leave ANY food outside ANYWHERE including on the porch. We love bears and all animals but we don’t want to attract them.
• Do not harm any trees or plants in any way.
• To protect the earth all bathroom and cleaning supplies must be strictly biodegradable (please ask us if you don’t have any).
• No motors are allowed in the lake.
• Our power is limited to what the sun shares with us so please always conserve energy. In the winter months with limited sunlight no electrical heating elements can be used such as; heaters, coffee machines, hair dryers, irons, etc.
• All visiting “pets” must be on a leash so they do not chase wildlife.
• Never litter, please leave the natural world as you found it.
• No smoking.
• Do not take anything from nature except photos.
• All bug spray must be free of DEET and other harmful chemicals.
• NO HUNTING, NO FISHING, NO VIOLENCE
• Tread lightly, keep peace and love in your heart.
Thank you!

We are a small, respectful and easy going family of three; Julie, Patrick and Max (10). We love to adventure and see the world. Our son, Max has been travelling since he was born and is very adaptable and respectful of other people's home and cultures. We love to make new friends and learn new things! We are also passionate about the environment, and animals. We often incorporate volunteering into our travels and help out when ever we can. When we are not travelling we live in Canada within a wildlife sanctuary and retreat that we have created. We are kept busy with animal rescue work, homeschooling and cherishing nature.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
