General overview
Comfortable family home in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. High speed wifi throughout the house, wood burning fireplace, all amenities, big backyard, large screen tvs, walking distance to Main Street (4 mins). Near River pathways and playgrounds. Located 25 mins from Banff townsite and about an hour from beautiful Lake Louise. Very centrally located in a quiet neighborhood. Four world-class ski hills located within an hours drive (Banff Norquay Ski Resort, Banff Sunshine, Nakiska Ski Resort and Lake Louise Ski Resort). Ski season is from ~Beginning of November until the end of May but because our towns are in the Valley bottom (ski hills up higher) we don’t always have snow from Nov-May. Weather definitely varies and we get Chinook ‘winter breaks’ throughout the winter season.
The space
Our home is a comfortable bilevel bungalow (just over 2000 Sq. Ft.) in quiet but centrally located neighbourhood.
Upon entering the house we do have stairs upwards and downwards. .
Upstairs you will find an open concept living, dining room and kitchen. There is a sliding door to the spacious backyard. There are three bedrooms upstairs and a main bathroom (with tub) and a small master bathroom with a shower. Downstairs there is a ‘rumpus room’, tv room, play space with an old piano. There is a full bathroom with shower and another bedroom multipurpose space with a Murphy bed. The laundry room is also a bathroom, in case you need four (lol, we rarely use more than two bathrooms. Not sure why we added so many!)
In the winter we are putting a private skating rink into the backyard and in the peak of summer we have an above ground swimming pool and trampoline.
And now, I’m full disclosure, our one ever-changing update is that our entrance way in not complete, waiting on the wooden floor to be installed. It is functional, just not pretty. Our front yard is also under landscaping at the moment. We’re waiting until spring to lay the new grass. And our back ‘deck’ is very temporary and really just a stairway (with railings) to the backyard at this point. I will keep this updated with our progress - it’s been a six year reno project so far, and hopefully one of these days we finish!
Master bedroom: King size bed
2nd bedroom: twin bed that pulls out in two joining twins (trundle bed - Really tight fit when pulled out)
3rd bedroom: kids bunk bed
4th bedroom (downstairs): queen size murphy bed.
Guest access
There are eight stairs up and another seven stairs down from our entryway. There are also three steps from the sidewalk to our front door. Our two back doors are locked from inside and our main front door is set up to be the most common entrance with a digital lock.
Notes
We own a business that has its busy season from May through September. Although an amazing time to visit our area, we do struggle to find the time to get away. We’ll know our summer camping schedule in ~March and this will include a few weekends we can offer up our house. I will keep my calendar up to date as soon as I know our schedule.

Neighbourhood
- 4 min walk to Main Street Canmore
- 10 min walk (3 min drive) to the large grocery/box stores (Safeway, Canadian Tire and Save-on)
- 25 min drive to the town of Banff (the Banff National Park gates are about ten min drive from our house)
- there are numerous playgrounds for kids within walking distance
- the main trail system (trails along the river and all through town) is on the neighbouring street.
- the main skating pond is located three blocks away (this is open ~ Dec end through March, weather dependent of course)
- numerous world class golf course within 10 min drive as well
- Hiking trails out the front door and too many to mention within 20 mins drive
- Banff Norquay Ski Hill & Via Ferrata is a 25 min drive
- Banff Sunshine Ski Resort is a 30 min drive to the base gondola
- Lake Louise Ski Resort is about 55 min drive to the main lodge, the actually lake is about 5 mins drive further up on the opposite side of the valley from the ski hill
There are tons of activities in this town and our house is definitely in a great location for access.
Getting to my home
Canmore is accessible by the TransCanada highway (TCH) and it’s an hour and 20 min drive from the YYC Calgary International Airport. There are two airport transfer companies that shuttle into Canmore - Banff Airporter and Brewster Airport Transfer.
The TCH is a double lane highway that is well plowed through the winter months. Because the town of Canmore is in the valley bottom, the roads are generally more manageable than most ski/winter destinations.
Nearest airport
YYC Calgary Airport ~ 90 min drive away
Getting around
There is a pretty good bus system around Canmore (free) and a connection ‘Roam’ transit into neighbouring Banff and Lake Louise.
We do have numerous vehicles and we can discuss trading vehicles as an option.

Happy to meet up for a coffee or beverage! I’ve worked in the tourism industry in the past, so I should have a lot of info to offer ;)
Darcy and Christian's home was great! So centrally located with beautiful mountain views from the backyard. Their new kitchen is a wonderful place to cook and the open concept was lovely. The big screen on the lower floor was a treat for movie nights. Being in downtown Canmore was a perfect launchpad for local adventures and access to Banff National Park. Truly great experience!
Darcy and her family were wonderful guests. The kids were a joy to have, we hope they had fun. We will look forward to having them back anytime!

Casey and Scott (and Finn the cat) were fabulous hosts! Their home could not be more centrally located and easy walking distance everywhere. And as an added unexpected bonus, they are fabulous cooks! Thank you for having us!

We are an adventurous family of five; an eight year old boy, nearly six year old boy and a four year old girl (as of Nov 2023). My husband and I have gone a lot of travelling, both individually and together. Our kids are (finally!) at an age where they are great little travellers and as keen as we are to explore different places around the world. We also have a short-haired cat and a small poodle; both of these sweet little animals will go on their own vacations to our family and friends.
My husband, Christian is Australian but we’ve lived in Canmore together for the past 13 years; prior to that we were in London, UK. I’m a native to this area and I used to work in local tourism, so I’m more than happy to help anyone get the most out of their trip to our Rocky Mountains.
We run our own business, well, Christian does most of the running and I’m support staff and a stay at home Mum. Our schedules well busy, are fairly flexible and we’re open to last minute trips. Summer’s are our busy season for work but we do try to get away for long weekends camping.
Reach out, we’d love to connect!
