General Overview
Our home is in a nice residential area of Torre del Mar which is a predominantly Spanish, coastal town, appx 40 mins to the East of Malaga airport. It is a lively town with shops and bars but little in the way of nightclubs. It is very much a family friendly area and children are welcomed everywhere.
The area is popular with Spanish tourists particularly in July and August. There are also many visitors in September who come to watch our annual air show.
We always feel that this area has the best weather in Europe. In winter it is never too cold and we have sun for about 320 days a year so you will pretty much always need sun protection. It doesn't rain here often and pretty much never in summer. When it does rain it can be three spits or a torrent, however it it rare for the rain to last for long, and the sunshine usually follows.
Going out here is cheap compared to most places. A coffee will typically cost around 1.20 euros, a beer 2.30/3 euros. A nice bottle of wine can be found for under 5 euros in a supermarket and if eating out, Menu del Dias can be had for around 10/12 euros.
The Space
We have two double guestrooms available for exchange, both with double beds. There is a small guest shower room and a larger bathroom with bath and shower available. The larger bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom and can be used by guests.
The third bedroom is our Master bedroom, generally we prefer for this not to be used for exchanges, but on occasion we may offer the house for exchange to a larger group and it may be used. We also have a double sized, comfortable sofa bed available in the study. Please indicate if you would need to use this room.
The kitchen, lounge and diner are open plan.
The house is bright, airy and I'm sure you will find it comfortable.
We don't have air con as we tend to open doors and let the breeze through. There are insect screens on all windows and doors.
In winter there is a log burner as well as portable gas and fan heaters which keep the house cosy.
Outside we have an 8 x 4 pool which we are happy to have our gardener maintain weekly, while you are here. There is a sofa and two chairs on the terrace as well as a dining table that seats six/eight. There are two sunbeds. We also have portable chairs, table, umbrella etc for taking to the beach. There is also a hot tub which can be used all year round.
Guest Access
We are sadly not accessible for wheelchairs as there are nine steps from the front gate to the front door. Inside the house there are two steps between the living areas and the bedrooms and bathrooms. There is one step from the lounge to the terrace, then three down to the pool.
Notes
CHILDREN
We have a travel cot which would suit a very young child but we don't feel the house is ideal for toddlers or young children, up until around the age of seven ish. This is because we have a glass fronted cabinet in the lounge which is full of glassware and the pool is directly accessible from the lounge and a bedroom. Older children who can swim are welcome.
PET DOG
We have a small, four year old, dog (around 15 kg) called Kika. She is very well behaved, friendly and easy to care for and we are hoping our guests will be happy to care for her particularly on simultaneous swaps.
When we are away in the motor home we often take Kika with us but there are times when we will need to leave her behind. She is used to having dog sitters who stay and I would hate to have to send her to kennels.
As our garden wraps around the house, it is the ideal place for Kika to be left when you are out. There is always shade and shelter in the garden and she is happy there, so you won't be restricted when you want to go out. However we would hope that you will be around to spend some time with her.
She loves to have a lie in, in the morning so if you are not early risers she will be happy. If you like to get up early, she'll be happy with that too. She really is very easy going.
Kika has two meals a day and a treat in the evening which we will leave, of course.
She is very well behaved and stays off the furniture. She will be happy with as many walks as you would like to give her but if the weather is very hot she is happy just to be in the garden. If you like dogs, I'm sure you will love Kika.

Neighbourhood
Within a five min drive there is Torre del Mar beach with a flat paseo to stroll along. There are numerous bars and chiringuitos to choose from.
There are also shops in Torre and a shopping mall just outside of town, just minutes away.
Nearby there is the historic town of Velez Malaga, Nerja, which is a very popular, cosmopolitan tourist resort and nearby there are the famous caves at Maro. Not far from Nerja is the lovely white village of Frigiliana. This has often been voted one of the prettiest white villages in Andalucia.
With a day trip you are spoilt for choice of places to visit. Suggestions would be Malaga, Granada (Ski slopes are open there early in the year), Seville, Mijas Pueblo, Marbella, Estepona, and Ronda.
Getting to my home
Best to take a taxi or drive to the house. We live up a hill and the bus station is at the bottom of the hill. We may be able to leave a car for you to use locally,
Nearest airport
Malaga Airport, 35/40 mins drive.
Getting Around
Our home is a five minute drive to the coast, restaurants, shops etc. It is possible to walk to the beach in around 20/25 mins but as we are uphill, unless you are very fit, I wouldn't recommend walking back in the heat of summer. At night we will often take a car into town and taxi back. We then walk down to collect the car in the morning. We are happy to leave an insured car for you to use when possible.

Marina and Richard’s villa is fantastic and Kika is such a lovely, well behaved dog and so easy to take care of.
Highly recommend. You will be very fortunate if you are lucky enough to stay at Marina and Richard’s home.
Wow what can I say about Marina and Richards home? It's absolutely fantastic and was a real honour to be there for a whole month!! We looked after the amazing Kika as part of the deal and she is a real delight, no stress, no issues, just a laid back kind of girl. As long as she's fed and walked morning and evening she's a delight. I'm a bit hesitatnt with jumpy dogs but once she knew that she would just come over gently and nuzzle.
Their home is absolutely beautiful and immaculately clean, every drawer, cupboard and space is well thought out and you can see they take great pride in their home. Marinas tupperware collection left me in awe and I really enjoyed cooking in the massive well equipped kitchen.
Whilst the house doesn't have air conditioning there are plenty of fans which cool nicely and of course we spent most of the time on the patio or in the pool. The views from the house because it's at the top of a hill are spectacular, right over the sea and mountains.
It takes about 30 mins to walk to the beach (downhill) and Kika and I did this most days but on the way back up there are 2 killer hills so hubby drove down and picked us up and we'd have a coffee on the sea front.
All in all we had a fantastic time and would love to swop with these guys again in the future.
We really enjoyed our time at Marinas & Richards very comfortable Home.
The location is good, you can be in the Hustle and bustle of the Tourist area, with loads of choices for places to eat very quickly, and then escape to the top of the hill with wide views of the surrounding countryside, and dip into the wonderful pool.
We had the opportunity to meet up for lunch, which was lovely and we had a very pleasant afternoon together.
Communication was really easy with Marina during our stay.
We certainly enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, and where able to cook a few meals, as if we where at home.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a exchange here & would certainly enjoy returning.
We exchanged for a Globe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Marina and Richards fabulous villa! The house is so spacious and comfortable! The pool and hot tub were our favourites! The garden is just lovely, it was great to see so many bees and birds flying about the place! We had such a relaxing holiday and came home energised! Don’t miss an opportunity to stay if you get a chance!
I had the most wonderful stay at the amazing Casa Marina. Nestled on top of a hill, the location is simply breathtaking—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind. Spectacular views. The house itself is impeccably well-equipped, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. What truly made the experience exceptional, though, was Marina (and of course Richard through Marina). Very kind, generous, and responsive. From the moment I arrived, she was available to help with anything, offering genuinely smart and helpful tips that made exploring the area so much easier and more enjoyable. One especially thoughtful gesture was her offering the use of her car—it was such a convenience and a clear sign of her warmth and generosity. I left with a full heart and so many lovely memories. I really hope I get the chance to return again soon. Highly, highly recommended!
We have just finished our stay at Marina and Richard's place. It is just awesome, as so are they. Great communication, lots of tips and anything you might need is available. I can only recommend exchanging with them wholeheartedly!
We had a wonderful stay at Marina and Richards villa. The villa is top notch and has everything you need for a wonderful stay. It is in the best area and they kindly loaned us there car for our stay. The stay was easy to arrange and everything went perfectly. We met them all for lunch, including Kika their lovely rescue dog. She really is sweet. We look forward to staying in there wonderful home next year. If you get the change to go, jump at it. Thank you Marina and Richard for everything.

We've just had four luxurious nights at this fantastic hotel. Everything about it was just perfect. The architecture of the building and clever design of the rooms made it a pleasure to stay there. Comfort was everywhere. The breakfasts were amazing and all of the staff were so professional as well as being friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed the very informative wine tastings and as for the wine room itself, I can only say WOW!
Many thanks to Ashley and Tom for allowing us the opportunity to stay in this very special place.
Julie and Daryl have been great guests. We met them just before they left and they were lovely. They looked after Kika very well and It was easy to see she'd had a happy time. The house was left immaculate, it seemed a shame to unpack. We would be happy to have Julie and Daryl back at any time and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Joanne and Brian were lovely guests. They kept in touch with us throughout their stay and sent photos of Kika which was much appreciated. We really appreciated that they took such good care of her.
We were still on holiday when Joanne and Brian left but a friend who went in to dog sit after, said they were lovely people and that the house was immaculate. Couldn’t wish for better!
We were lucky to be able to meet Fiona and Martin for lunch while they were staying in our house and we had a lovely meal together. They were very easy to chat to and really nice people. We knew our house was in great hands. As expected they took great care of everything and left the house immaculate.
We would welcome Fiona and Martin at any time and would highly recommend them as guests.
Jill was very easy to communicate with and kept me updated.
I was still away when Jill left the house so wasn’t able to see how it was left. My cleaners have since been in and not reported any problems, so I’m happy. And would welcome Jill back.
Emily was a lovely guest. She sent us a nice happy, smiling photo when she arrived and kept in touch throughout her stay to let us know that everything was well.
We were still away when Emily left but my cleaners who went in the next day reported that everything was fine with the house.
We would be very happy to host Emily again.
Lorena and her family have just stayed in our house as the first part on a Non Sim swap. I can highly recommend to anyone to welcome Lorena and her family as guests in their home.
Communication from start to finish was great and the house was left in perfect condition. It was so nice to return home and find everywhere so clean and tidy.
We would welcome Lorena and family at any time.
Fantastic guests!
We had the pleasure of meeting up with Helen and Norman for a for a meal during the week where we had a lovely time and really enjoyed their company.
Helen and Norman left the house immaculate inside and out and Helen even did some weeding in the garden. Having them stay was our first experience of PLU exchange and what a great start!
