We love that we can take advantage of everything that NYC has to offer but get to come home to a spacious and quiet home in a beautiful neighborhood.  In the summer we love to go to the Jersey shore and we have many hikes including the Appalachian Trail. There is also a cute downtown 4 miles from our house with lots of shops and restaurants and a train and bus to NYC.

The Space

We have a large eat in kitchen that is open to the family room which is where we spend most of our time. We do also have a formal dining room and den (with TV and wood fireplace).  We have a full bath on the main floor off of the mudroom and then  upstairs there are 4 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms.  We have a patio with table and chairs and large fenced in yard.

Guest Access

We have stairs going up to the second floor and a few stairs from the walkway to the front door.

Notes

We also have a ragdoll cat who is 8 years old and would need to stay at the house while we are gone.  We have a cat door in the kitchen that is lockable that she uses to access her litterbox and food/water in the basement.  We also have a 3 year old sheepadoodle and she can either stay at the house while we are gone or we can bring her to a pet sitter's house.

Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood is very quiet filled with young families and also retired folks who have lived here for several decades.  Our town of Wyckoff has a small downtown with some shops and restaurants and then the next town over to us Ridgewood is larger with many more shops and restaurants.  Ridgewood is one of many towns near us that has a train station and bus line to NYC.

Getting to my home

You can fly into Newark (EWR), JFK or LGA and get an Uber to our house or rent a car. You can also take public transport from the airport by train to Ridgewood (4 miles from our house).

EWR is 26 miles from our house.  JFK is 37 miles from our house and LGA is 27 miles from our house

Getting Around

If you want to use our house as a home base for NYC, you could easily Uber to get to the train station in Ridgewood which is 4 miles away. We also live walking distance to a grocery store and a nature preserve with hiking trails.

 If you want to do more hiking in NJ, it would be ideal to have a car.

We are a family of four - our daughters are currently 15 and 18.  We live in the NYC suburbs in a town called Wyckoff NJ about 17 miles from the George Washington Bridge into NYC. We are close to the Appalachian Trail and other hikes, beaches and lakes and cute towns.  We love the outdoors and hiking and have taken our kids to many places in Europe as well as within the US and look forward to some exchanges.  This is our primary home so we'd need simultaneous swaps and my husband is a teacher so we can only travel during the summer and school breaks.  We are hoping for a 1 -2 week swap August 2025 and Christmas week 2025 and 2024.  Interested in Europe (Portugal, France, Scotland, Switzerland) as well as Canada (Banff) and the US - Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts , New York, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, California, Florida, Montana, Wyoming
