Tent and Table Farm is a beautiful 20 acre farm situated at 4000' elevation in the middle of the Nantahala National Forest. You will be surrounded by nature, within minutes of some of the best waterfalls, hikes, and lakes Western North Carolina has to offer. Wake up to the birds chirping and go to sleep with the lightning bugs and stars filling up the night sky. This truly is a place to unplug and refresh your soul with a little wilderness therapy!
The space
You will stay in a beautiful 12x16 Timber-frame Cabin with a king bed, couch, and desk, but the cabin does not have a bathroom and kitchen. 25 yards away from the cabin is a tiny house that has the kitchen and bathroom, along with a covered deck, table, and grill. We have amazing views from our property in several directions that you will love!
In the summer the temperature rarely gets above 80 degrees in the day and the nights are in the 50s and 60s so make sure you pack accordingly!
September is Apple season and you are welcome to pick a basket of apples to take home with you!
October is leaf season...simply amazing!!!! Typically the peak has been the second half of October.
Winter is a great time to just stay in the cabin and enjoy the warmth of the heat, a cup of coffee, and a good book. There is always a chance of snow in the winter time and it's pretty amazing to wake up to a blanket of snow covering the mountains. We live right off a county road that is salted and plowed whenever it snows so it's usually not hard to get out.
And spring is just a beautiful with all of the flowers starting to bloom and trees budding. There truly isn't a bad season to visit.
Notes
We are 30 minutes or less to 8 amazing waterfalls. 25 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway, including three of the most popular hikes on the Parkway, Devil's Courthouse, Black Balsam, and Graveyard Fields. We are right in the middle of two lakes, Wolf Lake and Balsam Lake that you are welcome to take our kayaks out on.
The closest store to us is the Dollar General in Tuckasegee, which is 15 minutes away. We are 25 minutes from Cullowhee, 40 minutes from Sylva, 40 minutes from Cashiers, and an hour from Waynesville, Franklin, Cherokee, and Bryson City.

Hello PLU Friends! My wife Crystal and I were married in 2004 and have six kids. We serve as full time missionaries with a heart for life on life discipleship. After 10 years of ministry on campus at Mississippi State University, the Lord led us to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2018 where we have been turning our beautiful 20 acre farm into a place of rest, renewal, and discipleship. When we aren't hosting retreats or other guest at the farm we would love to do some PLU exchanges so we can travel some with our family.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
