General overview
We're recently moved to our home, so are in the slow process of slowly making it ours, but it's large, comfy and clean with a beautiful garden, a scandi hot tub, and close to 101 lovely things to do! Some of the photos are from our estate agent from when we bought it (so good quality photos) but are taken at the end of winter/beginning of spring.
Wadhurst is a wonderful village (The Times 2023 best place to live in the UK) and the judges commented that it had everything you need for a modern life in miniature, which is completely true!
If you're after some hustle and bustle we are under 1 hour from London on the train and 15 minutes drive from the eclectic and boutique Royal Tunbridge Wells. Yet, we are in the middle of the countryside (with amazing stars as we're in a designated dark zone), and on our doorstep have a wealth of National Trust properties (Scotney Castle, Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst Castle, Ightam Mote, Bateman's House), as well as within 15 minutes drive there is Bedgebury Forest (the largest Conifer collection in the world with walking, cycling and riding), Bewl Water with a whole host of leisure activities, the historic village of Mayfield. We're about 30 minutes from Ashdown Forest (of 100 Acre Wood & Winnie the Pooh fame) and 40 minutes from the beautiful and interesting coastline of Hastings and Rye.
We have a dog (Crumble) and a cat (Pippi), if we absolutely have to we can move the cat to my parents, but, ideally she'll stay and just need feeding twice a day. Depending on where we're going, we can hopefully take Crumble with us, or she would love to say as absolutely loves visitors!
The space
We have a large 5 bedroom house (2,800 sqft) on a very quiet lane on the edge of Wadhurst village.
The house has a large kitchen/diner which is the heart of the house (complete with a new aga) and an area we currently use as a playarea. It has a large living room with huge bay windows looking out onto the garden and a gas log burning stove. Additionally we have a utility, downstairs bathroom (including a shower) and a further bedroom. We have a nearly 2 year old son and so have a fully stocked montesorri inspired playroom downstairs.
Upstairs we have 4 bedrooms: a master bedroom with ensuite and super kingsize bed, two guest rooms with kingsize beds, and a childs room with a toddler bed in it. Alongside an additional showerroom.
Outside has a large garden with a very new smart studio office (internet and a loo). There's a large decking and a 6 person wooden hot tub. There's a seperate built in seating area down the bottom of the garden, with a perfect little bbq area to enjoy the evening sun.
We moved in the end of 2023, so we're still putting our mark on the place (alongside out toddler!), so some bits will be a bit more modern than others!
Guest access
Downstairs is all level access, but there is a staircase to access upstairs and steps down from the decking.

Neighbourhood
The village has 2 small supermarkets, an excellent pub (The Whitehart), 4 cafes, and a small selection of independent shops (gift shop, the sweetest bookshop, butchers etc). We're also walking distance the Old Vine pub at Coulsley Wood.
There are some wonderful country walks from the doorstep.
Wadhurst is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is nestled into the High Weald -https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/destinations/europe/united-kingdom/england/kent/high-weald-staycation-paradise-rival-cotswolds-why/
There's also lots of vineyards and farm shops on to explore!
Getting to my home
Best way to get here is to Gatwick airport, and then it's about a 50 minute drive. It is possible to get around by public transport, but a car is preferable as we are in a village in the countryside, but Wadhurst has a station (about 25 minutes walk away) and there's an on demand bus Mon - Saturday that can take you to the station. There are also several bus routes.
London is 50 minutes away by train, with the train line stopping at London Bridge, Waterloo and Charring Cross.
Nearest airport
Nearest airport is Gatwick (29 miles), Heathrow is 65 miles away
Getting around
You can walk into the village in about 15 minutes (either by the road or by an ancient footpath through the church)!
We're a 15 minute drive from the famous spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells (and can get their by bus and train).
